why is it that the player im controlling jump so low if he has 99 vert and blocking?

THANK YOU for pointing this out. I just sold my game because Javale McGee has the same shot blocking skills as Zaza Pachulia. Vertical means literally nothing in this game, and even if you time your jumps correctly, blocking is virtually non-existent at the rim with overly emphasized body contact, dunks animations that can't be stopped, and swatting motions that'll miss the ball even if you position the defensive player as well as you can. The shot blocking mechanics were so much better in 2K12, I don't know why 2K decided to fix something that wasn't broken and ruin it in the process.

no he sold it because you cant tell the difference between elite blockers. vertical and block rating means nothing

I would of never bought this for 60 had i known it was going to be like this, really i only got the game early because of a friend. I had a feeling the defense would suck since i played the demo and saw all my most ridiculous attempts go in. I think in 3 games with MP i've had 3-4 not blocks where my hand would go THROUGH the ball -__- not to mention how the AI is unstoppable inside.OFF reb and then dunk, over and over. Maybe it's just the Cav's sucking but man is it annoying.

When playing against Dwight Howard, I definitely know I'm playing against Dwight Howard.

Try playing AS Dwight Howard. And let me know when you block a dunk.

the cpu can block just fine its user controlled players jumping so low

Playing as a defensive center with maxxed out vertical I know the issue as offensive players just score on you without any fear BUT to trade the game BEFORE the patch is just ****ing stupid....

With the amount of complaints about defense going on around here I wouldn't be surprised if they nerf the offensive side of the ball.....I remember 2k11's main complaint was not enough contact in the paint (would you look at that same complaint now) and after the patch there were more contact animations in the paint...

@day 2k10 had better block dunk animations...they were canned but at least it kept dunkers in check
