Shot Release Offline vs Online

Why is shot release in online mode so weird. It doesn't feel right. Any body else get this? Offline feels "right" and more fluid where it actually releases when you let go of the X button

I have great internet and I'm not downloading anything. How do I stop it? I am failing with shots and its giving me turnovers because there is a lag when I pass. How do I stop the lag?
I have an open NAT and I play mw3 with no problems

I've been experiencing this problem too. Thing is, my game isn't laggy, there will be a slight delay and I'm wondering if that slight delay is enough to throw the entire shot off.

In freestyle mode, I get all green with Klay Thompson in his hot spots and all that, but then online, it's really inconsistent. I'll get all green releases and still miss, then I'll hold the shot button for the same amount of time in another match and get all red. Really odd.

It's a little different, it was different in 2k12 as well. not sure why, even without lag

it doesnt matter how good your internet connection is. there is going to be a little delay when you play online compared to playing offline. you have to adjust your release points. release your shots about a half second later.

I didn't get this in 2k12 and its affecting my passing and I can't even do dribble move combinations. I'm sure some people have no delay though?

So it's 2k server fault? Also there is no lag on blacktop

it also depends on the connection of your opponent. i have games that are very smooth and others that lag like crazy. regardless, online is still delayed a little bit compared to offline even when running smoothly.

I just hope that 2k does not end up "adjusting" offline releases to "match" online releases as they did in 2k11. I'd rather they just left the differences instead of making offline worse to "match" online.

This is easy. Watch the blue flash under players while shooting. Release just after the flash. It feels unnatural at first but it really works great imo.

Lag is the main reason I don't play sports games online. With a console there's always going to be that input lag, that makes it near impossible to play on ball D in basketball games or run between the linemen in football games.
