Shot Button vs. Shot Stick
I know a thread was made about this back in Sept., but I wanted to get an update from people to see what they settled on. This may impact what we do going forward, so feel free to explain your vote. Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick
Both. I use the shot stick for jumpers mostly, on drives I tend to use shot buttons. I do this mostly because with the shot stick on drives it seems like the game makes me involuntarily change my shot even though I haven't adjusted the stick at all. Also, it feels like the player goes up stronger in the paint with shot buttons than they do with the shot stick. I forgot to mention that button responsiveness is another reason I tend to steer more towards the shot stick.Last edited by nova91; 12-18-2012, 03:06 PM.Say "No" to railroaded MC modes.Comment

Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick
I believe I've always been a button pressing spot-up shooter. However, through 2K11 and 2K12, I began using the shot stick more and more to initiate drifters, spin jumpers, and dream shakes. In 2K13, I've gone back toward button reliance. I've had a tougher time pulling off drifters on command via shot stick this year, for whatever reason.
I believe I've also gone more toward button reliance on drives than I have in years past. I think my larger use of the button is due to my initial discomfort with having to hold L1 in order to shoot with the shot stick. Now I've just grown used to often tapping a face button to initiate a result. That said, I still use the right stick at times for those moves too (Ex: Euro-step). I'm pretty much all over the place.Comment

Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick
Shot stick all the way. Feels more realistic. More control in the post and it feels easier to do all the stepbacks and escape jumpshotsComment

Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick
I use a mixture of both, find the shot button to be easier when shooting jumpers and the shot stick to be useful in the post and driving the lane.
Before 2k13 I only used the shot stick no matter the situation, but with the introduction of the control stick I find it better for me to use the shot button when shooting Js2X SSBA CHAMPComment

Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick
I chose a mixture of the two:
For driving and spot-up shooting, the button is more responsive and easier to use. It feels more natural and unforced overall - it provides a reward (the desired shot) without needing to engage in a complicated sequencing of inputs.
For post moves, the shot stick keeps me more within the flow of the play and I don't mind the extra steps taken to achieve the desired results - everything is working towards a better result, and it "feels" right.
The shot stick is awesome in theory, but in practice, it feels like another mini-game that one must "play" in order to get a better result, with the exception of the post moves as explained above.
Edit: The shot sequence as outlined by JasonWilliamson below is exactly the type of changes which would drive me away from playing the game:Last edited by Taer; 12-18-2012, 03:40 PM.Comment

Re: Shot Button vs. Shot Stick
Used the shot stick for every single shot in previous years but it seems like a hassle now to hold LT so I just use X for everything nowCeltics, Nets
