First off, I want to thank you guys for viewing this dynasty. I've always enjoyed playing MLB video games, ever since the PS2 days. My favorite MLB team is the St. Louis Cardinals, and I've been to many baseball games over the summer(s). However, when I'm playing a dynasty, I usually like to go with a team who isn't in great shape, and had a pretty rough year. I thought about using the Astros, Brewers, Twins, or even the Mariners. However, when I went to Jupiter, Florida this year to see the Marlins play, I instantly knew they where my franchise team.
After a unsuccessful 2012 MLB season for the Marlins, they decided to trade Gaby Sanchez, Hanley Ramirez, Omar Infante, and Anibal Sanchez during the season before the trade deadline. While they did get some prospects back in those deals, most people didn't think the Marlins where going into full rebuild mode. However, this offseason the Marlins and the Blue-Jays made a 11 player total trade. This trade dealt Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, John Buck, and Emilio Bonifacio while acquiring Yunel Escobar and Jeff Mathis, with prospects Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Anthony DeSclafani and Justin Nicolino, and Jake Marisnick. The main player the Marlins did keep after this rebuild, was their star slugger Giancarlo Stanton. While most Marlins fans (and players) where angry about this trade, it was for-sure this team wasn't in win now mode, and was going to take a long time to probably make the playoffs again.
Like my earlier franchise Miracle In New York, I creating a back-story to this dynasty. I will be taking over the duty's of the GM. I've always enjoyed making moves and acting like a GM. However, I can guarantee this dynasty will even be better than my first MLB dynasty. I will be posting series-by-series updates, and around the MLB news (way more than my last dynasty) and even some draft story-lines
While I'm going to wait for the updated OSFM rosters, that still doesn't mean this thread isn't going to be active. My first few years are probably going to be a little rough, but I'm going to take it as a rebuild year. Hopefully, we can get our prospects to develop in the mean time. Also, we need to make sure we can be success drafting. However, Giancarlo Stanton will remain a Marlin for his whole career. No one else is safe on my roster however, and if I can get good value for anyone, they will probably be traded. Let's see how this one turns out, and I hope you guys enjoy!
