Best Pick in MLB 13 The Show Fantasy Draft?

Hey everybody. I wanted to make this thread today just to ask a quick question: what pick (in the first round) of a MLB 13 The Show Fantasy Draft would serve as the best pick to field the best team now and down the road. Currently I am using a roster called the 300 Top Prospects (can't quite recall the exact name) but I like it quite a bit. All the normal player ratings are similar to the regular rosters however the prospects all have realistic ratings (Oscar Taveras 73, Xander Bogaerts 65, etc.). Anyways, I wanted to get your opinion on what pick I should get in a fantasy draft that would enable me to field a solid team now and a team that would be good in the future. Just as a side note, I did try a few different picks out already. I had the 20th pick and was able to get David Price, Giancarlo Stanton, Yoenis Cespedes, and Bryce Harper respectively (however I really don't like Harper much). I really like the first three of these picks however I didn't seem to draft well for the rest of my starters. That's it guys, let me know what you think! Thanks.

I like picking in the middle of the round or last/first... don't be afraid to reach for a young prospect... there will be plenty of solid old-timers left

Depends on if you need star power or not. The young guys can always get picked up in later rounds; I got Bundy and Straily very late, must've been around 14 or 15. If you want star power then I'd say anywhere in the top 10 will work, if you don't need that then you can get a bit more overall talent picking toward the end of the first round.

If you can get Trout at #20 (he is sometimes gone at #20), I think he is the CLEAR choice, especially if you don't like Harper.

Giancarlo Stanton will give you the most Bang for your Buck !! Plays decent defense too.
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

I do really like Trout (who doesn't) however he goes like 12 overall most of the times. But I normally prefer to get an ace in the first round and a bat in the second. Although, I may be able to get Trout then Greinke... Not sure though.

My guess is (in the real game) that 5 years from now Bryce Harper will be the best player in baseball.

Re: Best Pick in MLB 13 The Show Fantasy Draft?

I picked 13th in my draft with the Cubs. I got Trout as my first pick and believe it or not Harper was available when I came up in the 2nd round so obviously I took him. Pretty nuts how those two were both still available. I think the CPU drafting just isn't all that great at times.

For me I'd no doubt take Trout number 1 overall. With Harper I'd probably take him at 5, maybe 3 or 4. Both guys are just straight up Franchise changing players. They don't come around too often. Needless to say I have Trout batting 3rd and Harper 4th in my franchise.

Harper will last til the 4th and 5th round for no reason.

If Trout has a major injury, then yes.

Not sure if your still planning on a fantasy draft (as i'm really late replying) but if I can why not put in my 2 cents.

Mlb 12 the show was my first Show game, and I spent a lot of time drafting teams for no reason at all. I've studied the draft in 13 and I know a lot about it that may help you.

First pick: If your trying to go multiple seasons the easy pick is Mike Trout. He is AMAZING in 13, and has better hitting stats then the cover athlete Andrew Mccutchen. His speed is at 93, and hes only 21! Thats my first pick any day.

Next step: I like to pick a pitcher next. Chapman and Josh Johnson are usually options. I took Aroldis Chapman because he's younger and less injury prone. Madison Bumgarner is available in round 3 50% of the time. If not Madison in round 3 then I go with Matt Moore. Bryce Harper is available next round, but if you don't want him I suggest you fill another position and maybe take Josh Reddick next round.

If you really want to be a pro: Reliever rounds are round 9 and 14. It may be a good idea to draft a reliever at rounds 8 and 13 AND 9 and 14 in order to get a good bullpen. After about round 15 you want to start picking guys like Dylan Bundy and Jacob turner while mixing in some decent relievers before they all start to go. The sp pool starts to get REALLY thin at this point, but remember how easy it is to trade for R.A Dickey or Chris Carpenter for a 1 month rental while you develop Bundy or whoever you draft for your farm. Round 10, 11, and 12 see Freddie Freeman, Mike Moustakas, Brett Lawrie, and Anthony Rizzo all go. The catchers get thin early. I suggest Yasmani Grandal in round 6 if not theres not really a lot of good young catcher until J.P Arencebia.

Sorry for the essay, this barley scratches the surface of what I know. Hopefully someone gets a use out of this. Now if you'll excuse me I have to try one of the neat emoticons
