is kobe done?
I cant believe what happened tonight. I have grown up watching kobe for most of my life and I fell like crying and I am felling sick now god I hope this is not the end of is great carrer. I know the lakers where not doing good this year but I think a lot of it was bad luck with injures I don't think this team was to fair form being a championship team if they where healthy and I thought the lakers could find a way to come back strong next year and that they could win another championship before he retires has he was still playing at a very high level and I thought he had 3 years or so left before this and was hoping he could even maybe just maybe break the nba all time scoring record. I just hope that this isn't the way his carrer ends and that he can come back strong next year but I think this could be it or that he will never be the same again. So I was just woundering how many people think this is it or can he come back strong?65yes kobe's carrer is over0%7no he will come back storng0%22no he will come back but he wont be the same great player anymore0%36Tags: None -
Re: is kobe done?
By the time he's back, he'll be around 36 years old, anyways, so I think there's little chance he'll be the player he was, regardless of the injury. -
Re: is kobe done?
We aren't discussing the real issue. How about LeBron? If he had the exact same injury, whose team would be affected more?
Also, this was my failed attempt at making sure this turns into another comparison thread lol.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 04-13-2013, 07:35 AM.Boston Red Sox

I watched all 80 games this year. Kobe played at an unprecedented level for his age. Every game he strapped that team on his back as they marched toward a playoff run. During each game the last two months I thought their season was over but somehow Kobe would will them to wins that were seemingly impossible. As soon as he went down, I knew what had happened. I hope he can come back and remains a Laker. I don't normally care about professional athletes but a great career like his should not end this way.

Re: is kobe done?
He's too stubborn and arrogant to retire from an injury in the midst of a battle for the EIGHTH SEED.
C'mon, man, Kobe ain't like that.
We all know that Kobe wants to go out on top, not fighting on life support, then suffering an injury that he can rehabilitate in the offseason and come back early in the season next year.
This may sound horrible, but with him and Nash out, I don't see LA winning out with just Dwight and Pau. The door is wide open for Utah and I hope we take it.
Just goes to show that a man his age should not be playing all the minutes he has played this year night in and night out. Fatigue caught up to him and bit him hard.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

This may make me sound like a dick but I really hope this isn't his last game because anytime a great player is seriously injured/or killed their legacy is multiplied by a million percent and I already think Kobe's is slightly overrated as it is..
I don't want to hear all the "man if Kobe didn't hurt he wouldn't been better than MJ" or whatever else people will say about him.. I want to see him come back and play.
Hell people are already saying this team if healthy is a championship contender this year, and Kobe was "willing them to seamlessly impossible victories".. I guess we weren't watching the same season.Comment

Re: is kobe done?
His Injury will be used as an excuse to fire Mike D'Antoni. If this is truly the last we see of Kobe (I doubt that now since he said he's gonna try and comeback) then I am not mad. He gave literally everything he physically had to try and propel the Lakers to the playoffs. It was ridiculous how many minutes he was playing at his age just so the Lakers could have a chance. He's a true warrior and probably one of the mentally toughest we have ever seen play the game. I consider myself privileged to have watched such a fantastic player throughout my years as a basketball fan.
In response to OJ, I certainly think that's a possibility and I'm hoping it is not the case. The last thing we need is more people raging about how Kobe is the GOAT which isn't true.

Re: is kobe done?
Don't know if this got posted elsewhere..
Kobe's Facebook:
This is such BS! All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I’ve done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage. Why the hell did this happen ?!? Makes no damn sense. Now I’m supposed to come back from this and be the same player Or better at 35?!? How in the world am I supposed to do that??
I have NO CLUE. Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that
was. Maybe this is how my book
ends. Maybe Father Time has defeated me…Then again maybe not! It’s 3:30am, my foot feels like dead weight, my head is spinning from the pain meds and I’m wide awake. Forgive my Venting but what’s the purpose of social media if I won’t bring it to you Real No Image?? Feels good to vent, let it out. To feel as if THIS is the WORST thing EVER! Because After ALL the venting, a real perspective sets in. There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.
One day, the beginning of a new career journey will commence. Today is NOT that day.
“If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear”. Ive always loved that quote. Thats “mamba mentality” we don’t quit, we don’t cower, we don’t run. We endure and conquer.
I know it’s a long post but I’m Facebook Venting LOL. Maybe now I can actually get some sleep and be excited for surgery tomorrow. First step of a new challenge.
Guess I will be Coach Vino the rest of this season. I have faith in my teammates. They will come thru.
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Much Love Always.

Really? You couldn't have said it better than that?
No, this won't be the end of Kobe. He will have surgery, will rehab and recover like few can and will come back and amaze people at how great he plays for his age and coming off an Achilles injury. Get ready for all the inspirational advertisements coming your way. What a freak injury though.PS: You guys are great.

Re: is kobe done?
Don't doubt Kobe, guys. He's going to play through this injury. I fully expect him to suit up tomorrow night and play 48 minutes against the Spurs. Dude's a warrior. No one can stop him and he isn't going to let some "injury" like a torn Achilles tendon stop the greatest basketball player the world has ever seen. No, sir. Kobe is unstoppable.Comment

Re: is kobe done?
Nike Kobe's Return Ad
- Scene takes place in the woods/forest, dark and cloudy.
- Camera follows a bear hunting
- Kobe's VoiceOver: "If you see me fighting a bear..."
- Quick flashes of the Kobe IX (maybe X), like disappearing and showing up somewhere else instantly...
- Bear goes crazy, starts roaring and swinging at nothing...
- Bear takes a quick precision (let's not forget he's still the Black Mamba) hit on the side (obviously don't show it, nobody likes letters from PETA)
- Kobe now presents himself
- Kobe VoiceOver; "prey (shouldn't it be pray?) for the bear"....
Yaaaaaaay!!! Hopefully they don't do one though, we just had this discussion about how Adidas handled Rose's situation poorly.Comment
