IF that is the case then hopefully the new CEO replacing John Ricitello will stop that junk from now on.
I get all that but what would the suits have to do with this? Meaning, unless the devs have been cornered into using NHL animations for whatever reason, some of this animation tech could carry over.

That said, I am with you in the hope that the new consoles are a fresh start and completely separate from whatever went on this gen but like I keep stating, the first game play footage of M25 on a new console will tell it all. If the animations are NOT lifelike in that footage in the very first game play vid for new consoles, then Tiburon just can't fix it. No need for anyone to talk about, "it's the first year of the new consoles, give them time" or any of that stuff, what we see then is what we will be getting for years to come, for better or worse.

I'm putting my hopes into next gen being a fresh start.

I guess the question is, do they all but start over from scratch or do they carry a good bit of this gen into next. And if so, what do they carry over for sure?

From interviews it seems like they aren't going to start over this next gen like they did the last/current gen. Hopefully they bring over this good and none of the bad. It's more than the hardware though. Engineers have to have the skills to make this stuff work right and look authentic. I hope Tiburon has got guys there capable.

Also the culture has got to change as I keep saying. No more easy quick band-aid fixes. No more half assing stuff. Things have to be designed with realism in mind. They can't just talk and market anymore.

This maybe completely wrong but the more I look at the way people say the players a re "hunched over", the more I start wondering how much this have to do with sharing the tech (ANT) from games like NHL, FIFA and even NBA Live. Maybe the issue is, in those games, especially NHL, the player are often inherently hunched over in motion due to the nature of the sport but not football. They are carrying the football so they don't need to hunch over to interact or make moves with it, like the other EA sports games do to interact with their respective ball/puck.

Could this be the reason behind the hunched over running in Madden, they need a separate animation tool for running in the football game?
Not a bad thought, but it doesn't seem plausible, unless they have been lying about their facilities this whole time.

They mo-cap people performing everything that's in the game, according to them. They boast that their tech is on the level of the tech used for Avatar. I don't see anyone in Avatar looking like Lurch. The animation in Avatar looks pretty damn good to me.

Either they mo-cap aliens, they lied about their mo-cap practice, or they totally bunk up what ever they capture when translating it to a game. I don't know which of those is the right answer, but I'm gonna have to say the last choice makes the most sense.

No reason for them to use any animations from NHL or Live, unless they have been lying about mo-cap since forever.

That's not what I meant, about them actual using the animations from NHL but whatever tool they use to transfer animations into Madden is more made for a hockey game. I was just throwing it there but come to think of it, that doesn't make much sense, lol.

I was just looking at a recent pic someone posted and wondering why in the world would players be running like that. It doesn't even bother me that bad, considering all the other things that irk me far more. However it's just a peculiar thing to see considering, like you mentioned, they mo'cap real people running, lol.

Ok, I just went on Youtube in the middle of typing this and found these.

Check out the animation for "route running" and notice how the player squats to get the initial push from the LOS. Is that the position the players are now getting stuck in when running for some reason?

imo this game might take the cake for worst madden of all time. The only major addition we get is something that should have been added 5 years ago.

If they don't, that would be a so discouraging. Madden on PS4/Xbox (whatever) should make people put the prior Maddens and 2K football talk to rest. This is a opportunity for EA to set the standard for how NFL should look and play.

Sometimes I really think Tiburon is worried about making the game more realistic, lol. I feel like sometimes they say to themselves, "Hey guys remember this is just a videogame, let's not get crazy" lol. I'm not even trolling I'm being dead serious.

This next gen they have a real chance to start the game on a new path. Let people know they are striving for realism from the jump. I would love for Madden to be the hardcore football game it's supposed to be.

I cant even "lol" at that because it seems right and pisses me off. smh

I posted before how Tiburon seems to be the only studio making sports sims that constantly reminds everyone in interviews and in-game that these are "just video games". I am so ready to see this game play reveal for the new consoles so I can decide what I'm going to do. If it SHOWS real change, none of that "it looks like Madden but you have to feel it", I'm all in. However if it looks like more of the same, it's time to start posting in the "Other Football Games" forum on OS, to speculate and hope about March 2014.

Like I've said in the past, I've pushed all my chips to the next gen table. I've been on board with Madden in recent years b/c I felt the game improved each year. I didn't feel that way w/ M13 b/c of the amount of bugs that went unaddressed. With no football game to play, my Xbox has been used sparingly, and I've grown to be ok with that.

I'm not spending another generation trying to see the forest through the trees. I'm not spending another generation wondering why they can't get the presentation quite right. I'm not spending another generation wondering why Tiburon is not obsessed about the details (player models, sig animations, **CPU playcalling, uniform accuracy, etc) like us fans are.

M13, for better or worse, has shown me that I don't NEED NFL gaming as a hobby as I once thought I did.

I hope for the best, and hope Kolbe's impact is felt immediately with the new systems. If it's not, I won't be pouting on the forums. I won't have some angry tirade about how NFL gaming is dead. Rather, I'll gracefully put the 'sticks down and walk away.

**Speaking of CPU play calling, considering how bad it was last year, you'd think there would be a M25 play book on AI enhancements. Add it to the "must haves" list for next gen I guess .

I remember during the community events for Madden 10, someone at OS was in attendance and they pointed out to the devs how unrealistic it was that players could manipulate lead blockers by moving the ball carrier, (in that game they all moved in tandem). The response they said they got from the devs was "Really, you don't like that? We think it's pretty cool."

The devs focus on finding a middle ground. Having stuff kids like, having the user control tourney guys like and having just enough realsim to satisfy the sim guys. I'm hoping the nexgen delivers a focus on realism, but that's never been EA's MO.

There have been attempts in the past to "track" human play calling and allow you to attach that to CPU teams. I am not sure how well it worked as I never had any friends who played the game that I am referring to.

I wonder though if the new consoles may be able to expand on that idea and "replicate" play call tendencies, move execution timing and so forth...
