    Sliding into Third

So, I've noticed that there may be a problem when trying to slide into third, particularly on a triple attempt.

Twice in the first six or so games I've played I've had a speedster thrown out at third on what should be a virtual no-doubt triple. I've had both Brett Gardner and Ichiro thrown out thanks to last-second slowing down as they go into a slide.

If they had slid normally (or if I didn't even bother to slide probably), they're safe easily. But as they went into the slide animation, they both slowed waaaaay down to the point of looking like a slow-mo replay while everything else is normal speed.

And this isn't a matter of not hitting L1 in time: I held onto it out of the box both times as I could tell it would be a triple try in the gap (one of the guys even bobbled the ball on one play).

It even worked to my advantage in my last game as Torii Hunter tried stealing third and had it stolen, but when he slid, he slowed down enough to let the throw get him.

    Anyone else noticing this?

Ive seen this a couple times when attempting to steal second. Looks like my guy will get in safely only to see him go into slow motion when he gets close to the bag. Very frustrating.

Hmm haven't seen this, actually just hit a triple with Gardner my last game and without the head first slide he definitely wouldn't have beat the tag.

I believe they were both head-first slides. I know the Ichiro one was.

I don't know about slowing down, but on some headfirst slides I've noticed they don't put out their arms right away. Almost like they slide to far away, and give themselves a push before reaching out. Don't know if that's it.

Have you replayed any of them?

I've had this happen to me on multiple occasions, it's much more visible in RTTS. I've had perfect jumps on steals and it looks like I'd be safe with plenty of room to spare, but my player would go into a very slow slide animation with his hands at his chest instead of stretched out, and I get thrown out.

They really need more slide animations, especially stealing 2nd. I really hope they add the "slide through" animation next year, where the player slides over the bag and keeps his foot on the bag.

Here's a video of Carlos Gomez doing it twice. There's a slide in the game that's a little like it, where the player slides to the left or right of the bag and puts his foot on the bag, but it's not the same as sliding head first and going through the bag. It's a signature slide for a lot of base stealers in the MLB.

I think it would be awesome if they added packages for certain things, like they do in NBA 2k with the layup packages and dunk packages etc.

Maybe have like a "basestealer" package where the slide above is in it, and maybe a different way the player runs. and then a "big man" choice, where the slides are slow and simple. and then just a "normal" package, where you get the simple, yet effective types of slides.

I think I've seen this also, but I never stopped and thought about it, so I don't even know what any details were... I'll have to wait until I see it again so I can really pay attention.
