Gimmie A Hell! Gimmie A Yeah! - This is Blue Mountain State Football.

    blue_mountain_state_gimme_hell_yeah_womens_dark_t.jpg

Big things are coming at the powerhouse football school of Blue Mountain State. Viewers, you're in for a treat.

    Personal background -
My name in the football world is coach Massey. I've been a head coach in the college football ranks for years, winning 2 National Championships with Miami in back to back seasons in 2005-2006 on NCAA Football 05'.

    Head Coach statistics:

    2005: Miami Hurricanes: 11-1 2 player dynasty
    2006: Miami Hurricanes: 12-0 2 player dynasty
    2007: Transition year..out of football.
    2008: Cincinnati Bearcats: 9-3
    2009: Cincinnati Bearcats: 10-2
2010-2011: Transitioned to Western Carolina University
    2012: Western Carolina University: 2-10

    Overall record: 44-16, 73%

After seeing the program begin to falter in Miami, I fled for my 2nd favorite college in America, the University of Cincinnati on NCAA Football 08'. There, I lead back to back squads to BIG EAST Championships and signed the school's first ever 5 star recruit before departing again, this time to the college I currently attend; Western Carolina University, where my Catamounts went a horrible 2-10 on NCAA Football 10'. After Teambuilder was shut down online, my entire Southern Conference that I had downloaded lost all of their logos and I wasn't going to have the App State and Western Carolina rivalry with EA SPORTS logos all over the field and helmets. Also, it was time for a new game.

Rumors began to swirl around on the twitter community that I'd return to coaching Cincinnati football this season. After that, there was a short term rumor on ESPN that I'd return to coach a second season at Western Carolina University. All of those rumors were put to rest after I heard of a job opening I could not refuse..

Once again, big things are coming.

Don't worry, I'll be going with the real guys. Not rolling with Moran and Castle would be a crime. Full player bios to come, along with an interesting twist to kick things off. Stay tuned.

LEGENDARY BMS COACH DANIELS STEPS DOWN FROM POSITION; STUDENTS RIOT

          Riot.jpg

Six-time national champion football coach from New Jersey, and pillar of the BMS community, Marty Daniels steps down from the prestigious Blue Mountain State head coach throne. He was formerly a running back for the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys in the late 70's and early 80's.

The exact reason why coach Daniels stepped down is unknown, but fan speculation is that he stepped down due to his recent doubts of the team's new conference direction. Where coach Daniels goes from here, who replaces the legendary coach, and the future of the remaining Blue Mountain State coaching staff is anyone's guess. Stay tuned.

BMS HAS FOUND THEIR MAN, DANIELS RETURNS, COACHING STAFF NAMED

            Coach Massey.jpg
New Blue Mountain State head coach C. Massey at his press conference yesterday

BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE REPLACES SIX TIME CHAMPION WITH TWO TIME CHAMPION

It didn't take long for Blue Mountain State to find their guy to replace long-time head coach Marty Daniels. It was announced July 10th, three days from his birthday, that former Miami Hurricane, Cincinnati Bearcat, and Western Carolina Catamount coach C. Massey has signed a one year contract with BMS. He has some huge shoes to fill as coach Daniels won multiple championships at BMS and was a favorite of the BMS community.

            -

            Coach.jpg

Signing C. Massey wasn't the only good news for Mountain Goat fans yesterday. At the press conference that was held for Massey, Massey himself announced that he asked coach Marty Daniels to return and be his offensive coordinator instead of heading off in to the open job market. Daniels apparently accepted Massey's offer.

Below are two of the memorable quotes from yesterdays press conference, at which both Massey and Daniels were in attendance. The entire press conference can be heard on GOGOATS.Com.

Coach Massey: "I've always been a fan of coach Daniels. When you look at his track record and experience, why wouldn't I be a fan? When I heard he was stepping down as head coach here at this beautiful University, I was shocked. They called me and I jumped at the chance to coach BMS, as anyone would, but I knew I couldn't do it alone. I asked Daniels to remain with the team and be the offensive coordinator for my ball club, and he'll also become a member of the BMS front office. I'm thrilled he decided to remain with this wonderful team."

Coach Daniels: I stepped down from the spotlight because it was time for a change. I wanted to pass the torch on to someone else. I've noticed Massey's hard work over the years with multiple programs and he knows what he's doing. When he asked me to remain with the team, it took me no time at all to make my decision. Besides, I'll get to remain a part of this university I have loved for so many years and be able spend more time with my sexy a** ex-wife Debra since I won't have to deal with the stresses of being a d*** head coach!

            -

All other members from the 2012 BMS coaching staff will return for this season, with former BMS assistant coach Jon Jon Hendricks moving to defensive coordinator and former BMS offensive coordinator and special teams coach Marcus Gilday focusing on special teams duties.

2013 Blue Mountain State Mountain Goats Offensive Philosophy

Coach Massey: "The offensive philosophy I'm bringing here to Blue Mountain State is very simple - be in attack mode all the time. Coach Daniels and I have been running similar offenses for years and you'll see that on the field this season. We are a coaching staff that firmly believes in using our player's strength's and protecting our weaknesses with the ultimate goal of scoring points and protecting the ball. We believe in forcing the defense to use all their rules by incorporating multiple formations, shifts, motions, and trades. We are constantly looking for a matchup advantage for our players to take advantage of in both the run and passing game. We do not run a ton of plays but we do believe in running them from a variety of looks. The end result is our players playing extremely fast and physical football.

We will incorporate both the pro-style two back offense and a spread system that allows the QB from the "Pistol" or "Gun" to be a running threat. We have the ability to be very fast or slow tempo at any moment of the game. We believe in changing our offensive personnel from 5 wides to 3 TE's throughout the game. We want to get many players involved in the plan and also force defenses to have to defend the whole field. Our design is very simple, sound, and adjustable to the various looks we will see throughout the season from defensive teams. The offensive game plan here is designed for one reason - score points!!!

We want to put our players in the best possible situation we can to be successful on any given play. Our goal is to allow our offensive personnel to play to the very best of their ability."

2013 Blue Mountain State Mountain Goats Defensive Philosophy

We are an attack style defense that plays with great technique and effort. Our coaches and players hang their hats on three things - Play Harder than our opponent, Play with better Technique/Fundamentals than our opponent, and Play Smarter than our opponent. We recruit and develop speed and toughness. Once you are here we will modify our schemes to fit and feature our playmaker's abilities with the design. We are all about using our player's strength's and hiding our player's weaknesses. We firmly believe in exposing the offense's weak links with our best players.

We will play both man and zone coverage's here at Blue Mountain State University. Each coverage scheme will be disguisable and structured to force the offense to read it on the run. Our motto on our front is to stop the run on the way to the QB by beating blocks and changing schemes on the fly. We are not a read front, we are an up the field attacking defensive front. We will bring both zone and man pressure throughout games to change up our mode of attack. Our players will be trained to learn our schemes each play. We want our players to always be in attack mode. Thinking is done between plays and on the sideline, not during plays - that is when we react and run - always attacking.

2013 Blue Mountain State Mountain Goats Special Teams Philosophy

This 1/3 of the game is a phase that we firmly believe can be our greatest advantage over the course of the game. There are 6 teams within the Special Teams family (Kickoff Coverage, Kickoff Return, Punt, Punt Pressure, PAT/FG, and PAT/FG Block). Each one of these teams is coached with great passion and energy by our staff. Every member of our staff, including the Head Coach will be involved in coaching our special teams. We know that field position can win games and special teams is a phase of the game that involves a large change in field position on every play. These momentum plays can and will be the difference in winning and losing championships. Special teams are call "special" for a reason. Our players are graded on every snap at every position and they fight to be the most productive 11 members of our team over the course of the season. These 11 players are put into the "Elite 11" and receive special standing on our team.

NEW BMS HEAD COACH ANNOUNCES DEPTH CHART

                            Quarterback

                            1) Freshman- Alex Moran- 82 Ovr.

                            2013-07-09_23.08.01.jpg
Mountain Goat fans expect big things from freshman signal caller Alex Moran.

The fate of the Blue Mountain State offense rests on the right arm of Alex Moran. The fans believe the team is destined for greatness, but who’s the new guy, Alex Moran? Experts say all position players on offense are proven or sure-things, but the biggest question mark is Alex Moran. The expected weakest link of the offense, Alex Moran. Yes, I’d say there’s a lot of pressure on this freshman quarterback named Alex Moran who’s expected to jump right in to a starter’s role at Blue Mountain State.

Moran, a five star recruit and the number 1 rated high school quarterback this past recruiting period committed to Blue Mountain State expecting to have fun, drink, and have relationships with girls, while learning and studying the playbook as a 2nd string quarterback during his first season on campus. Little did he know, Travis Amell, BMS’s senior projected starting quarterback, would be kicked off the team for accusations surrounding a male prostitute. Suddenly, Moran will be expected to start at quarterback despite being just a freshman. At 82 overall, Alex is the highest rated starting freshman quarterback in college football this upcoming season, so he knew expectations would be there, but he had no idea they’d come this soon.

                            Alex.jpg

Alex Moran is from Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was the first 10,000 yard passer in Wyoming High School history. Despite that success, and a potential four-year starting role at Blue Mountain State, it is still believed that Alex does not see college football as a stepping stone for the NFL and is content to spend have a life as an "Average Joe" once he graduates from college. The chance of going pro doesn't seem like a possibility to him, and he expects to go back to Wyoming to become a gym teacher. Alex Moran comes off as a slacker, but he is driven to succeed by his desire to have fun and sleep with women.
Though not noble, people understand Alex Moran, but that alone doesn't make him likeable. His high school fans rooted for him because he is charming, honest, and even naive. Alex isn't cocky or a showboat. Alex has just as many doubts about himself as regular people do, which makes him relatable. He gives that goofy drunken smile, and the fans and coaches alike feel like he is a guy they’d want to hang out with. He is nice to everyone when so many others are not. He shows the nerds who do his homework a good time. Alex Moran is the common man, who is stepping in to a ginormous starting role.

                            2) Sophmore- Reggie Lawrence- 81 Ovr.
                            3) Junior- Dan Golden- 81 Ovr.

Running back is a true strength for this ball club, and usually is a strength for C. Massey coached teams. BMS has unusual depth, as all half backs on the roster could start for other D-1 teams across the country. It all starts up front with #1 running back recruit in the nation Craig Shilo. Shilo is a running back from Columbus, Ohio. He was the national High School Player of the Year last year and became the first running back in Ohio history to become the national high school player of the year AND the number one running back ranked by scout.com in the same year.

A 5-star blue chip prospect, Shilo is expected to shine as a freshman. Craig is rather straight-laced and committed to his ultra-manipulative girlfriend Denise, who wanted Craig to go to school at Georgia or Georgia Tech where they both have family, but Shilo couldn't resist the program at Blue Mountain State.
