2013 MLB 2K Trade Help Thread

First off I give all credit for the information in this spreadsheet to ACMilan99 and Totte over on the MLB The Show forums here on Operation Sports. For the many of you who may know about the spreadsheet that they have created, all I have done for all of the MLB 2K users is that I have converted all of the trade values from the MLB The Show value system to the MLB 2K value system that uses stars and arrows. The spreadsheet is using Totte and ACMilan99's base from the date of Thursday, July 18th 2013. All updating following that date will be done by me.

Current Version Accurate As Of Wednesday, July 18th 2013: MLB 2K Trade Spreadsheet

I hope that this can help some of the users here on the MLB 2K side of the baseball gaming forums. If you have any questions or need any help with trades (I'm not very good, but I'll give my opinion) and such, don't be afraid to ask. Also, all comments and suggestions are much appreciated!

Just so you know, I'm constantly updating this thing. I'll try and keep track of any changes I make. The last two I made were making Dustin Pedroia's value Mid A/Low A/High C and Brett Lawrie's value Low A/Low B.

Fancy seeing you over here with us xbox heads. I gave you a little breakdown of what I think about letter-star conversions between the Show and 2K over in the Show trade thread. Feel free to ask for clarification on anything that isn't already clear.

Thanks for the info about Pedroia and Lawrie's ratings! Did you put Lawrie's position as a secondbaseman or did you leave him as a third baseman for now? Also, I didn't get a PM from you yet (not sure if you sent it or not).

What do you think about the trends of the players? For example:

          High A = 5 Stars, Up Trend
          Mid A = 5 Stars, Diagonal Trend
          Low A = 5 Stars, Diagonal Trend/No Trend/Down

Nah I've been looking over the spreadsheet and trying to figure out if there's some efficient way to change both without having to PM a ton of the time but I'm drawing a blank.

The best thing I could imagine would be granting me editing privileges and I'd update it too whenever I make a change to the main one.

Honestly, I'm not really a fan. I just don't think there's anything we can do to mitigate the differences in the rating systems. The arrows don't really have anything to do with how high the progression will go in the A/B (5/4 star) range, but just that it's going in that direction.

My thought would be to keep the original spreadsheet at face value (with letters) and just make a note that the values are based on a letter grade system (that has nothing to do with the video game itself) and the goal is to match 2 players up to find a fair trade.

We could make a spreadsheet tracking all of the player changes in a separate doc and I could give you editing permission... Other than that, I'm not sure...

Re: 2013 MLB 2K Trade Help Thread

Been considering a trade in my Cubs franchise and would like to keep it realistic. It's trade deadline 2014 and I'm out of it. I would rather let some young guys play 2B so I want to trade Darwin Barney.

Seattle has a hole at 2B (they traded Franklin in a package for Stanton). I would really like to try Jesus Montero at C, and he's hitting .197 as Seattle's backup catcher.

Would something like Darwin Barney and Welington Castillo (they need a backup C) for Jesus Montero work? I could throw in a prospect if needed, or would it be really unrealistic? Thanks.

That sounds pretty decent. You could probably get a minor piece back in addition.

Seems ok to me. Maybe you could get someone like Danny Farquhar or Robert Andino (can take Barney's position if needed).

Sounds good. Would it be possible to get back Furbush or Luetge back instead of Farquhar? I could use a lefty for the bullpen.

                          Letuge would be fine.

Yeah I don't see why not.

Okay, completed the Barney trade. Thanks guys. Need to complete one more trade before the deadline. The Rays are way out of it, and with Price a free agent, they won't have the money to offer him 8 years and 200 million like someone else will.

The only teams with the money to resign him would be the Blue Jays, Phillies, Cubs, Giants, Mets, Rangers, Red Sox and Yankees. I don't think there's much chance he gets traded to a divisional team, and the Phillies, Giants and Mets don't have the prospects, so it's either Cubs or Rangers.

What kind of package would it take from these 2 teams? (or others if they do have the prospects) I tried referring to the spreadsheet, but neither team has that many 5 star prospects. Thanks guys.
