which low rated players that play great for you?

i am in the middle of my second season on 12. i am using the rockies and Andrew Brown is ing near .400 for me since i called him up 24 games in. only carlos gonzales is above 300 on the rest of my team. brown isn't in the league stat board yet because he doesn't have enough AB's but he would be well ahead.

at the start of the season, my team AB % was around .230 and i had to call up guys to do something. he came up and started tearing it up. he had a 21 game hit streak.

i love the fact that there are just bars for ratings. you have to try guys to see how they play.

moscosco is my surprise top pitcher. i brought him up to pitch bullpen because i was sucking there also. he had 1.10 era when i decide to move him to the starting lineup to cover injured pitchers.

    who works for you?

Last year I had a Tampa Bay franchise and Ben Zobrist was batting way over .300, like the .320 area, and led the team in HRs.

Jeremy Hellickson, who was iirc their 3rd or 4th best pitcher, led my team in ERA, and IP, by far my most dominant pitcher.

And I'll never forget 2 years ago, in The Show 2011...
Mets' bullpen reliever Taylor Buchholz did not allow a single run until mid-July, in about 40 IP.

Ryan Roberts in my Rays franchise. He probably stinks 90% of the time but the guy is as clutch as you can get. He can be 0 for 5, if he's coming to bat in the bottom of X innings with the winning run on base, he always pulls it off. Always.

That's why in year 1 he finished with a .225AVG but the guy is clutch. Love it

In 2015 Jonathon Villar hit .320 from the end of August, the next season he struggled a bit at the plate but him and Altuve roll such a sweet DP, and he hit got hot again at the end of the season, leading the Stros to a 89 win game season and we're in the playoffs for the first time in a while!

Came in to pretty much say this. He's hitting around .280 for me though. His average with RISP tho is fantastic, over .400, like you said dude is clutch.

Adeiny Hechavarria, he doesn't play great but he does overachieve for me.

Small sample size so far, but Yorvit Torrealba is hitting .274 for me with a whopping .536 AVG/RISP. Doesn't hit for power, but he can throw out a hit or 2 every time he starts in place of Wilin Rosario.

I'm a few games before the all-star break, but Yorvit only has 117 AB's, and 28 of those are with AB/RISP. I'll take a back up catcher who hits 15/28 with RISP any day.

Joe Kelly has been very great for me so far. I had him in my long relief spot in the bullpen and he had to come into the game at only the 2nd inning. He pitched 7 innings and didn't allow any hits. One walk but that doesn't mean anything. I did end of losing in the 9th though. So far he has a 2.5 ERA through about 30 innings pitched.

Re: which low rated players that play great for you?

i think this is what i like about this game. you don't just go with ratings. you have to see who plays. i have dextor fowler on the rockies. he was batting under 200 for over 20 games. i had to send him down and try a few guys to get some production.

my pitching staff sucked for a while and i need to go through various minor leaugers and changing roles of the major league guys until i could find guys who could win me games. once it worked, i was 6 games under 500 already and i need to climb my way out. i was 1/4 of the way through the season at this point, however.

now i am a couple games over 500 but it was a long struggle.

Zobrist is doing that for me.

Same for Kelly Johnson - not really "low" rated, but he's not rated to play like Cano...

I wish Hellickson would play like your Hellickson, though!

Yankees catcher Chris Stewart has been ridiculous this season for me, hitting .356 in 256 ABs, since I didn't play him all that much in April, he won't have enough ABs to qualify among the league leaders.

Brendan Ryan, he makes good contact. Solid SS.

he's 8 for his last 20 ABs with me. Well above team average right now lol
