Has your outlook for Madden changed since playing M25 Next Gen?

Simply, do you have more or less hope for Madden now after playing Madden 25 on next gen?

(I voted that it hasn't changed, I need to see more) I haven't played the game yet, so I feel that is only fair.

I know a lot of people were extremely negative and for the most case rightly so, based on the previous product delivered, but I'm just curious to see if that opinion has changed much since people have played M25 next gen or if it's about the same. Who knows maybe this poll can help the devs see what they're doing right and need to improve on as well.

Re: Has your outlook for Madden changed since playing M25 Next Gen?

After finally getting to play Madden Next Gen the past couple days, I feel it does play better than current gen. I have been playing with minor adjustments to All Madden settings and with a few tweaks with the penalty sliders. I just enjoyed a challenging game were I did lose.

I think with another year to develop and hopefully we get a broadcast package similar to NBA Live 14 then it may finally be the game we all want! I want to see Stat banners based on day, season and career built into the game!

      In short, Yes, it has.

This game has bought EA some time to really impress me with M15

M25 next gen is a definitive step in the right direction

It's given me hope, but based on past experiences I don't think it's beyond possibility that they ruin everything that has made next gen 25 playable and try and add features that don't work and completly let us all down again with 15. EA needs to build a positive track record with progressing the title through gameplay and this is a start.

What's crazy to me is that its clearly a port and this game could've been released 5 years ago on CG.

It's certainly given me more hope than the past few iterations of the game. Lets chalk the lack of next gen graphics and features up to the fact that this was their first game on a new generation. Only time will tell how much better EA can make this game.

As far as True Step running goes, it would not have been possible on current gen. NBA 2k even said something similar about their running cycle, next gen tech allows them to create much more realistic running locomotion. With True Step, the animations are no longer compressed and there's an animation for every step, in the past there was one animation for every 3 steps.

Re: Has your outlook for Madden changed since playing M25 Next Gen?

First, I DO NOT HAVE NG. Just going by what others that I trust have said in the impressions thread. Personally, I would say I'm more anxious and interested in seeing M15 and how much progress is made after reading the impressions thread. I really can't say more optimistic yet, but definitely more anxious and interested.

Progress just seems to be so slow, though I do like what I'm reading about the CPU on field AI looking improved in NG. For me to be optimistic, EA/Tib would need to make much greater strides each year, and stay the course. EA/Tib really does have to prove consistent progress over time, like The Show and NBA2K.

I wasn't going to even come into this thread since I don't have NG (going by the thread title), but I noticed the OP voted and said he doesn't have NG Madden.

I'm mid 50's and so disappointed in last gen Madden. It's not like I'm in the teens or early 20's and have a lifetime left. It just feels like EA/Tib took way to much time from me, time that I don't have to spare. I thought M12 was at least starting down the right track, and they just went in a completely different direction with a horrendously buggy M13. I did get M25 CG and though there are major things I just don't like about it (progression system and XP), I still had/have some fun with it. Really wish I would have been eligible for the $10 upgrade, but oh well.

So, yes, after reading the M25 NG impressions, I'm more anxious and interested in finding out where M15 goes.

Re: Has your outlook for Madden changed since playing M25 Next Gen?

I've been very critical of Madden.

Madden 25 NG is the best football game I've played since 2k5, if not ever.

Is it perfect? No. But the flaws are minor, and can easily be fixed in Madden 15.

Defense actually plays defense. I've played 15 games online (14-1), and not once have I been able to legitimately beef with the defensive play. If I put my players in position, I get turnovers, I get stops, etc.

Defensive lines get pressure. It's possible to get pressure controlling interior d-line.

Offense is actually a challenge. The most difficult opponents are ones who run balanced offenses. No more scrambling all the time, no more passing every down. I struggle most with those who mix it up.

                Running feels realistic.

I think I'm averaging about 22 ppg and allowing about 13.5 ppg. I haven't had such realistic stats (relative to how I play the game -- 55/45 run/pass, bend but don't break or give up deep stuff defense) ever.

                What needs to be fixed?

For some reason, I struggle mightily with having to hold down triangle for user picks now. Sometimes my controlled player just stands their.

The sharp cutting is too dramatic sometimes and slows players down too much.

Re: Has your outlook for Madden changed since playing M25 Next Gen?

Next Gen is great, on the 8 games I played now I love the new feel of the game. Its probably some of the most fun I have had in quite a few years of Madden. I normally play the CPU as I can't stand the cheezers online but the CPU plays a great game and I don't have those " WTF it seems like the CPU needs to cheat".

I know some might get a little more in-depth with Madden but for casual gamers this is deff a step in the right direction.

Also I can't stand people stating this could have all been done last generation. Just because the graphics are not night and day does not mean the physics in the background could be done last gen....

I need to see more. For all the great things that I love about next-gen Madden 25. There are still things that need fixed. Presentation being one of them. We have all this processing power, its time to take advantage. True Step for all 22 players on the field. The kicking game is boring and played out. Find a way to make it more intuitive/challenging. DB/WR interaction is still lacking. These are off the top of my head. Madden is in a better place today than it was 3 weeks ago.

I am looking, forward to seeing what can be done with the new systems going forward.

Presentation does need to be stepped up but I don't want any changes to the kicking game. I don't see the point of making it more challenging or mini-gameish as the kick-off is the one piece of the game where the kicker generally hits 100% of all his kick almost exactly the same. Very few kicks out of bounds unless they are trying to kick around someone....

That is one aspect of the kicking game. FGs are boring. There is no challenge to them whatsoever. At this point in the season FG% ranges from 96-64%. No one playing Madden misses 37% of their FGs.

I voted for have less hope now! And my reason why is I don't believe anything the Madden team says anymore, they said things would be fixed (all teams unis, injuries still don't work) or nothing would be taken out from current to next Gen (Draft classes) and they didn't for fill their promise! Lost Faith, Better Rob?

How exactly would they have implemented Draft classes without a game?

You can't just bring 'em over and voilà, they work... It's--at least from what the true step and improved ai/awareness show, along with the improved (but still underwhelming) graphics--probably a different animal when it comes to attempting to code it (although I'm not a software guy, so I wouldn't know anything)... and who knows, maybe they didn't want to test the NCAA by going on with the draft classes.

If anything, the player models and look like they might not be improving much, with the work they've done with them... which is more hopeless than the draft class anyway.

--More hope, but still a little weary.

After having played the game, I'd have to say that my outlook has changed for the worse.

The game isn't bad at all, but it isn't really good either. At least not to me. I had hoped, based on their protestations of how they were going to beef up the dev team, having a team dedicated to only next gen development, and that they were starting really early on next gen development, that they were going to make some drastic changes to the game. Whether they worked out or not was another matter, but I was excited for any change, as their current path led to a dead end, IMO. Turns out, there is almost no change.

The graphics are almost identical. Player models are still terrible. True Step leaves something to be desired, and I'm not even talking about how only 2 players at most use it. It has other issues besides that one colossal issue. Animations are still poor. Tethered passing is just amateur hour design. I could go on.

The bottom line is that they did not take this opportunity to try anything different and went with status quo. By status quo I don't mean that they didn't add anything. They did, but that is exactly Tiburon's status quo. Add one or two additions onto essentially the same game. But said additions usually replace additions that were made previously for the exact same purpose (for instance, how many times have they redone locomotion and it is still FUBAR) so you really don't even get new additions. Just slightly different takes on additions from a year or two ago.

I really don't see how it's going to change. Madden 25 NG is really Madden 25 CG with 2 players able to True Step and somewhat improved line play... Great... no I'm supposed to believe that they are going to do something about the other 99.9% of the game they didn't even touch by next year? As naive as I was to think that they would actually try on NG, I just don't see that happening.

March holds more interest for me than August. Really wish that wasn't the case.
