    2. i have to play the game to see if thats the case. cant say anything one way or another.

    3. can you elaborate? what do you mean by unbalanced?

    4. from what ive seen ball targeting looks ok. i only saw one clip from the shakedown video that had a bit of an odd block but other than that it looked ok. the players seem to be aware of the ball.

    5. cant really say much on this. movement does look a little slow. i would have to go back and really watch for potential fast break opportunities that is affected by that.

    6. can you give a few examples?

    7. i agree with this one to a point. it seems to be hit or miss. sometimes the ball reacts naturally and others it looks off. usually when it hits off the rim is when it looks off.

    8. i havent seen too many oddities in the ai. there have definitely been some bad decisions but overall it seems ok. i would also like to see videos showing different difficulties. that may be the cause of some of the slow reactions i would hope.

i finished watching shakes video and it is strange how easily he was driving the lane at the end. i say that because i saw other videos where players tried the same thing and were shut down. maybe a difficulty thing? if that is consistent it definitely needs to be fixed though.
    1. Is THAT the "AutoMotion" option? good to know.

    3. Missing more WIDE open mid range shots versus making HEAVILY contested layups. An issue I had that was echoed in one of the reviews. I think it was Game Informer. I could be wrong.

    4. Indicative of rebounders watching the ball fall to the ground right in front of them. It's mentioned a few times.

    6. There was video and mention of outlet passes going players ahead of the crowd, and them having to stop or slow down to catch it. Also, there were mentioned cases where the pass was thrown to player on the perimeter and he would have to move or get moved to a point out of bounds to perform the catch.

    8. One example, the onball defender gets beat from the point, but the dribbler flairs to the wing because there is help in the paint. The onball defender takes a cutoff angle that takes him deeper in the paint than the helper, leaving the dribbler WIDE open for a jumper that he could have recovered to and contested the shot.

Re: NBA Live 14 Reviews From Around the Web

Rebouding is atrocious. There is no organic flow and the A.I. is equal to 5 high school teens playing at a local high school gym over their lunch hour. Is this an NBA game? Serioulsy though, 3-4 defensive guys pile in under the basket after a missed shot, then basically stand there and watch the ball hit the rim and hit the floor and the offense picks up the ball while they continue to stand there. Again, it's no joke about the following: You can take a 6'9-7'0 center on any team, dribble down the court, do spin moves, crossovers, etc and nobody seems to mind this? I supported Live over the years, but I can't be the defending of this game that is going on here. What else? How about the commentary being pretty bad? Players like Lebron James looking like a zombie from a left for dead game? No sliders? Are you kidding me?

I've been playing with auto motion turned on from the very beginning and it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference.

There's still a lot of standing around off the ball on both ends of the court.

I can't believe this thread got so many more post after my post. This section of the forum is usually dead. A lot of ppl just want to trash NBA Live 14 I see, so this is my last post since I was only playing it just to try it out myself and don't care for the fanboy crap. This is actually my first time playing Live since the PS2 and always played 2K basketball.

The demo is fully featured so you can actually tell if you'll like the game or not. The first time I played it I did not like it one bit but it was because I'm so used to 2K's controls and didn't know WTF to do. I already knew the graphics were going to look like sh!t so I wasn't expecting much. Since making my last post I probably played 5 more games.

Like I said the presentation is spot on. The game seems to have all the teams mascots and realistic courts compared to 2Ks. While playing on the Cavs court I noticed that the wine colored lights shined on the crowd like they do in real life. So EA did went all out on in the detail department.

As for game play and graphics that's where the game needs work. I couldn't figure out how to back down players with Bynum. Close shots went in to easy for the CPU. CPU teammates stand around and don't move when you stand at the top of the 3pt line, but I'm positive that's because i'm not running a play. Which I can't figure out. I press the run play button and I get things like iso, post up, ect....but not and actual plays. I did feel like it was easy to get into the paint if I set a perfect pick. Also finding out the game doesn't have sliders is sad. Rebounding is bad and I also don't like how the ball goes in the net it just looks weird.

When you install the Live demo enter your Origin account you can see EA is updating the players in the background. It shows the roster records getting updated. Hell i'm still waiting for 2K to update next gen 2K14 rosters. Like I said before EA does have something here and the game isn't all that.. they just need to continue to build on it and fix those character graphics.

How can a presentation be spot on if the commentary is below average at best? I'm not here to trash NBA Live. I'm speaking facts on why I had faith they were finally going to make a good game and I feel they lied and left me again disappointed. I've bought every single Live on nearly every platform ever made back to Lakers VS Celts on the Sega Genesis. YES. Every one. IMO You're in denial if Live 10, 09 and even 08 do not play better than 14. Which they most certainly do in nearly every facet. I'm in no way suggesting there is no fun to be had ,but this doesn't feel like basketball to me. If it played like NBA Live 10, iwould have been happy, but its not even to 10's level. They can strut pretty menu screens, synergy, and roster updates every 20 minutes but does not erase the fact the game itself is close to being completely broken.

Commentary isn't all that bad but I also didn't sit their dissecting it. I'm a 2K guy and never played any of those Lives so I can't answer that.

I'm sure if I liked it I would go out and purchase it. All I said is the game isn't that bad and it has potential. 2K would really have to mess up badly to make me get Live.

"If I look at our path, we had a lot of disruption," O'Brien said. "The game moved from Vancouver to Orlando after limited success and some failure. We retooled our management team and our roster. And we're going to see some success this year. But in a couple years? Look out. We're going to be in a position where I think we'll be redefining this category."

Ill believe it when I see it. 14 is not a good start IMO

I think the game is pretty good, you just have to learn how to play, you can't go in expecting to play like 2k and have success on Live. Lives top mistake in my opinion was not putting a mandatory tutorial before you play the game to teach users how to play. For anyone just getting the game and deciding to play without reading up about it first it's terrible.

Yet, I've heard countless people say the more I play the more I like it.

I didn't expect it to play like 2K either. You make it sound like people don't like it because it doesn't play like 2k. Well my friend you missed the entire point. You see, while I feel 2k is a better game.. I also realize 2k does NOT have a monopoly on "great basketball games". It's not like there can only be ONE great basketball game per year lol. Live had just as much opportunity to make a game, while different from 2k, just as good or BETTER in it's own right. They didnt. That's the general consensus.
