Ridley Out: Insert Bolden, Vereen, and Blount
Left to right: Brandon Bolden, LeGarrette Blount, Shane Vereen
The Patriots suffered another huge blow to their offense. After losing Julian Edelman and Aaron Dobson, their #1 and #3 receivers respectively, they add the loss of starting running back Stevan Ridley. Ridley broke his forearm in the early plays of the first quarter in the week one game against the Bills. Ridley tweeted yesterday acknowledging that second-string back Shane Vereen will take the reigns as the starter for the rest of the season. The team released a statement two hours ago that Ridley had been placed on the IR, eliminating any hope of him returning this season. The New England Patriots will look to Vereen, Short-Distance-Back LeGarrette Blount, and fourth-stringer Brandon Bolden. Ivan Fears, running back coach stated, "Everyone back on this roster is great, and now they have their chance to show it."
The Patriots will play their second game of the season against the New York Jets, after their 31-28 win over the Bills.
