A recruiting rant
Now I know this probably happens to most of us who play legacy mode and man does it happen very often to me,what I'm talking about is the fact that I'll have a recruit up to 100% interest and i offered a scholarship and come the first day of signing period: They sign with another team(Most times to a school that's in my conference) it just annoys me to no end because I should be getting these recruits but nooooo, they sign with somebody in my conference and or rival from another conference. Give some input on if this happens to you and if it does how frequently.Currently Playing:
FIFA 15 Manager Mode with Real Betis
NCAA 13 Dynasty with Arkansas State

Re: A recruiting rant
For me its the opposite. I've been second or third with 100%, but still won. It annoys me to no end is when you recruit someone to like 75-80 lets say their jr year, and they significantly drop the next season, and you recruit like crazy but can't even get to 100% by signing day. But then again I've never been that good at recruiting, so it could just be a "me" problem.Comment

Re: A recruiting rant
It doesn't matter how much time I put into the recruits even if I put a lot of time into them they still go elsewhere and it's quite annoyingCurrently Playing:

Re: A recruiting rant
This same BS happened to me during a closed legacy in which I originally was coaching MD-Eastern Shore then got a job offer to go to Austin Peay then after 2 years there I got offered the Marquette coaching job and every time I would recruit someone at Marquette I'd have them at 97-99% interested I offer the scholarship and 9/10 they went to a school like Duke or LouisvilleCurrently Playing:

Re: A recruiting rant
This will happen from time to time in real life recruiting, look at Gunner Kiel. He committed / de-committed from like four different schools in the span of a year, it was ridiculous. I'm fine with a guy switching at the last second, especially fun if it's in-conference because it creates a little rivalry that you want to shut the guy down. Also, they could be 100% with another school and it was a coin flip for the recruit.NFL: Houston Texans / Carolina Panthers

NASCAR: Ryan Newman

Re: A recruiting rant
At this point I am wondering if its my school or wht but I have been winning in Minnesota yet I can never get 5 star recruits. All these other teams around me land them but only 3 stars really want to play for me out of the gate. I can manage to get 4 stars."If you care at all, you'll get some results. If you care enough, you'll get incredible results."

Re: A recruiting rant
To some of you who are having a tough time recruiting, which mode are you playing? I find recruiting to be insanely easy in open legacy. If you are playing a close legacy and are still at a small school, it will be very hard to land 4 and 5 star recruits minus occasional luck.
Your program needs to win (good record, conference titles, ncaa tourney appearances, ncaa tourney upsets, advancing to sweet 16, winning a championship etc) before 4 and 5 star recruits start putting you on their radar. Trust me, it does happen, but you gotta build a winning program for a minimum of 2-3 years. Iv'e done this with Texas Southern a year or two ago when I played this game on PS3 (I'm on the 360 version of the game now and not looking back). I started off by getting good enough records to get an 11-16 seed in the ncaa tourney (easiest way to get into the tourney if you can't get a great record is to schedule a couple games against teams that will likely be in the top 25 at some point during the season. Like real life, beating top 25 ranked teams will help get you into the tourney. When you feel your team is good enough to upset some power schools, schedule some games against ranked teams).
In my Texas Southern closed legacy, I got knocked off a couple times but made the sweet 16 on my 3rd tourney appearance. After that year, 4 and 5 star recruits in my region had me in their top 5 choices and it wasn't too long before I started to land some. When I mean some, I mean one or two here and there. If you want 2+ High School All-Americans every year, go to a better school. This game is so deep and realistic as recruits start to catch on and recognizing your schools evolving resume but you have to put in a few solid years at the school. The first few years of a closed legacy are the hardest because even the recruits you bring in won't be too much better than the guys currently on the roster, but as long as you make strides year in year out, recruiting will take care of itself.Last edited by strobox88; 03-25-2014, 09:13 AM.Comment

Re: A recruiting rant
I don't even bother going after 5 star recruits. I just look for guys in the 3 or 4 star range that fit my system (shooters & shot blockers). It seems like no matter how local the recruit is, how high my charisma is, how perfectly my schools situations fit his interests, it doesn't matter. As soon as the other schools start recruiting him the interest skyrockets for them and I can only get marginal bumps. I could win 5 championships in a row and still get outrecruited by 50 other schools. I've never come close to getting the #1 class. The only time I might kick the tires on a 5 star kid is if he's foreign and has zero interest from other schools.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: A recruiting rant
I've been at WVU for awhile in my 20-year legacy, and I do get some five-star recruits, but the vast majority are still 3* and 4*. I'm not sure I've ever gotten a top 5 class. Recruiting is fun, but not necessarily easy in this game. I like it that way.
For example, here is my last recruiting class (2027 class):
1. Fred Joiner 6'4 197 (Staten Island, NY - #5 overall, #2 PG) 5* - All-American
2. Happy Olson 7'0 245 (New Britain, CT - #56 overall, #7 PF) 4*
3. O.J. Palmer 6'11 264 (Philadelphia, PA - #94 overall, #6 C) 4*
4. Daniel Cox 6'10 247 (Australia - NR overall, NR C) 4*
That is one of the best, if not the best, classes I have ever had at #6 in the nation. Joiner is a legit stud, but I don't get 5*s like that every year, nor do I need to. Recruit what you need. A 3* sharp-shooter could still end up being a very valuable starter on a title-winning team. A 3* center with good size could, as well.
Maybe recruiting would be easier at a Duke or Indiana, but I don't really know.Last edited by superjames1992; 10-17-2014, 01:21 AM.Comment
