Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
Honestly, I'm disappointed with it. I expected it to be one of the GOAT sports games but it completely flopped. Gameplay feels ridiculously scripted and is really frustrating, VC is everything in the game and is shoved right in your face, MyCAREER feels corny, MyGM is a slightly improved Association even though it was supposed to be completely different and new, the Park sucks. The only good thing that I feel came out of this game is the graphics, and at the end of the day, graphics dont matter all that much.

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
Not enough options on the poll.
If there was a 'meh' option, I'd go with that. It could be better, it could have been worse (see NBA Live 14)
Some features like the gameplay itself are at the best they have ever been for a basketball game. I have seen no semblance of pure cheese as of yet. The graphics are some of the best seen in a video game. The presentation hasn't changed much but it does the job for the most part.
However things like DRM, no HDD saves, the cut down features (No Create-A-Player, Create-A-Team, practice types gone, No proper Association customization etc.) Horrible menu navigation and aesthetics, Glitches and bugs in MyCareer and MyGM pretty much ruin what could have been the best sports game of all time.
I'd give it a 6/10, because some modes got a bit more replay value post patch, but many of the things that they cannot necessarily patch in (or are not willing to) just anchor this rating down even further.Comment

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
My expectations were also through the roof for this game. Probably because of the annual 2k hype train lol. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed but it definitely isn't all I had hoped it would be.
I guess my thoughts coming into the game were "it looks just like real life, it must play like real basketball" which it doesn't really. There are times where it does feel like real basketball but mostly I'm just annoyed by the AI. Pretty much every team plays the same way. I think they got rid of coach profiles so that might be the reason.
The animations are also really bad IMO. Those 3500 or whatever animations they added make me feel like there are too many times where I lose control of my player.
I could really go off about what I like and dislike about this game but I doubt anyone cares to read a novel lol. If only we could take certain features from each 2k in the past 4 years. Still, this is probably my favorite since 2k11.

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
It's very hard to judge, because of how disjointed the parts of the game are.
The gameplay is the best its ever been. Same with graphics.
On the other hand, the DRM, lack of association customization an general lack of options is amateurish.Comment

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
Also, people keep saying the same foolish crap about association but this is not association mode. It's mygm, No gm can control and dictate moves for other teams, so I just don't understand how people attack this mode for it. It's not association mode, and shouldn't be looked at as it. It's a new mode, it may be similar to association but it's a different beast.Comment

What is this drm people keep talking about? You can play this game offline.

That's why they should bring association back. It makes no sense to have a mode for years and then take it out to add a mode which is different in many ways. The complaints are warranted IMO.

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
Wanting to cheat the cpu by controlling and dictating everything they do is not a valid reason to erase a game modeComment

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
Who is talking about erasing game modes? I just said it makes no sense to get rid of association. If you get rid of a long time mode there are going to be complaints, and for good reason.
They can bring back association along side MyGM, I don't see why we'd have to erase a game mode or whatever you're talking about lol.
Btw good to see you're still fighting the good fight against all the cheaters in the world. I don't know where we'd be without you, Skeeter.

Btw, what is a skeeter? I've tried to use the ethnic dictionary to figure out what you are saying but this is what comes up http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=skeeter. I know that you guys say a lot of things and terms that you don't even have a proper understanding or definition of, but I figured this would be the best way to try and understand what you are trying to communicate to me.

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
It does have it's positives but when it comes down to it I feel like I play it more because I like basketball than because I like the actual game itself. Without getting into specific gameplay issues my main points for the game are:
Pros:
- Looks amazing
- It's basketball
Cons:
- Terrible menus/navigation
- No saving rosters/draft classes to HD
- VC
- No editing tendencies/ratings in mygm (I can't even freaking change an incoming rookie's age without having to go through the whole upload process)
- CPU cheese at an all-time high
- I don't think I can emphasize enough just how terrible the menus are. Why did they feel the need to change them so drastically?
- On-going server issuesComment

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
Because it's a mode and feature that people obviously want to bring back lol. I'm not a big association guy but I understand the want for the mode. If you don't that's fine. Keep fighting the good fight, Skeeter.
Btw Skeeter is a name. That's why it is capitalized. You remind me of a guy named Skeeter. It wasn't a put down if that's what you're thinking.

Re: Your final review on next-gen 2K14?
I'd give it a 6/10 overall - this is coming from someone who plays MyCareer almost exclusively.
Notes:
- VC is a pain at first, but after the initial big hump where your stats are lacking everywhere it isn't such a big deal. That said, I did do the MyGM VC farm while I watched TV which gave me up to 10k VC a day if I put in the time which meant after about a week or so of MyCareer/MyGM farming, I've got a close to maxed out player. Of course, this would be very different if I played all the game modes (which is why I mentioned I play MyCareer exclusively above).
- MyCareer story is lacking. A nice addition from 2k13 no doubt, but far too linear.
- Control Cheese. I define control cheese as 1) How does my player decide to do the crab walk or run normally when defending? I've given up easy baskets many times because my player suddenly decided to crab walk sideways when I'm trying to run to a spot. 2) On my left, there are 2 team mates, 1 is open for 3, and the other is standing out of bounds (or something similarly undesirable). I point my stick left and hit pass... guess who I pass to...
- CPU Cheese. I think this one needs no explanation.Comment
