Series 14 vs Mariners

Twins Drop Another Series, Snap Skid At 6

The Twins had dropped 4 in-a-row before welcoming the Mariners to town. The M's were surely not well-behaved guests and lit up Minnesota pitching for 18 runs over the 1st 2 games of the series. Seattle completely blew open competitive games in Game 1 and Game 2 by scoring 10 runs in the 9th inning or later mostly against lefties Caleb Thielbar and Brian Duensing. The losing streak would run to 6 games for the Twins before getting a break.

Before Game 3, the Twins decided to call up DH/1B/RF Kendrys Morales from AAA Rochester. Morales had only been hitting .241 with 4 HR and 15 RBI playing for about a month in the minors, but the Twins desperately need some thunder in the lineup. Chris Colabello and his .170-ish average were optioned to AAA to make room.

Morales actually had no impact in Game 3 and went 0-4, but the Twins won the game anyway. Minnesota rode a fluke 4-run 3rd inning that saw LHP Roenis Elias take a massive Eduardo Nunez liner off the pitching hand and leave early. Mike Zunino also made a pair of throwing errors to catalyze the big inning. Later on, Glen Perkins came on to record the save, but not before the pesky Mariner offense scored a run to pull within 5-4--it was Perkins' 1st run allowed in more than a month, since a blown save against Kansas City on April 11th.

Game 41: Mariners 9, Twins 6

Game 42: Mariners 9, Twins 2

Game 43: Twins 5, Mariners 4
