Flyers Get Early Season Revenge on Rangers

Mason Saves The Shot Attempt by Derek Stepan
Last year the Rangers knocked off the Flyers in the seven games of the Eastern Quarterfinals in an extremely close series with the finale being a 2-1 victory. Last night was no different as a late Rick Nash goal forced overtime, but the Flyers managed to win in a shootout thanks to a Wayne Simmonds' goal in the shootout and a strong performance by Steve Mason. Rick Nash started things off for the Rangers on the powerplay as he found some open space in the slot and fired a rocket past Mason. WIth a minute left in the 1st, Claude Giroux managed to beat Henrik Lundqvist, but Derrick Brassard took advantage of an over zealous defense and scored seconds later. Lecavalier tied it after some tic-tac-toe passing from the Flyers then Voracek gave the lead early in the 3rd before Rick Nash scored his 2nd of the night to tie it with 6 minutes left.

Re: Rebuilding Broad Street(NHL15 PS4)
Nice to see both Jeff Carter and Mike Richards contribute in their victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. If only the Flyers had one of those players, maybe they would have won a Stanley Cup within the timespan of 2011-2014.
Once again Nikolai, nice work with the dynasty page. At this rate, the Flyers will be on the outside looking in while a grateful organization like the Pittsburgh Penguins will contend with the top guns of the NHL.Comment

Drew Miller's Hat Trick Leads Wings Blowout

Jimmy Howard Makes One of his 19 Saves on Jake Voracek
Drew Miller's 1st career Hat Trick and 19 saves from Jimmy Howard led the way for the Detroit Red Wings as they defeated the Flyers 5-1 at the Joe Louis Arena. Jake Voracek scored the lone goal for the Flyers and Steve Mason was pulled after allowing 4 goals on 15 shots. "It was a poor performance for sure. We fell behind early and panicked." Claude Giroux told reporters. Darren Helm started the scoring less then two minutes into the game and it was all Detroit with Drew Miller scoring his first before Voracek brought the Flyers back into the game. Drew Miller added his 2nd midway in the 2nd along with a powerplay goal by Weiss. Miller would complete his hat trick early in the third and the Detroit defense shut the door on the Flyers offense that has been hot of late.

Sharks Take a Bite Out of Flyers

Tyler Kennedy Watches as his shot eludes Ray Emery
Tyler Kennedy scored twice and Antti Niemi made 26 saves as the San Jose Sharks got a much needed win vs the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 last night. Once again the Flyers gave up a goal in the early starts of the game as Brent Burns managed to get behind the Flyers defense and beat Ray Emery on a bad rebound from the Flyers goalkeeper.
Sean Couturier would even the score late in the 1st on the Powerplay before ex-Penguin Tyler Kennedy would send a sneaky redirection under Emery's arm to regain the lead mere seconds later. Shots were rare in the 1st with only 10 shots on goal, but 3 goals were on the scoreboard.
Brayden Schenn would tie the score when he deflected a Braydon Coburn shot past Niemi, but that would be the last time the Flyers beat Niemi. Despite pouring on the pressure in the third and a couple posts they could not solve Niemi. Patrick Marleau would score with seconds left in the 2nd on the powerplay and Tyler Kennedy added his 2nd of the night late in the third off a miscue by Emery.
