Custom conferences is VASTLY, VASTLY superior to the old conference invites.

For your own team you can make up some criteria (OVR/prestige/wins vs. teams from destination conference, etc) and when you achieve them you can move. Or you can just move there any time that you want.

What's more is that you can move ANY team to ANY conference after any season that you want.
