The Return of a Football Power: A Tennessee Volunteers Dynasty (NCAA 14)

    Introduction
Hello all! I attempted a Tennessee dynasty on Operation Sports about 1 year ago and had to end very early into it because of an issue where I had to factory reset my PS3 with no way of backing up my saved data... And I'd love to give it another try.

I'm an absolutely HUGE Tennessee fan of just about every sport and actively follow their recruiting. So I will be doing this dynasty on the rebuilding project of the Tennessee Volunteers and will try to get them back to their powerhouse status of the 1990's/early 2000's or maybe a dynasty like Alabama's under Nick Saban.

    Anyway, hope you all enjoy!!

    Dynasty Info
    Console: PS3
    Quarters: 8 Minutes
Difficulty: All-American (may bump up to Heisman)
    Rosters: Volstopfan14's 2013-2014 rosters
    Sliders: Custom made
Offensive Style: Tennessee's Pro Style, Hurry-up Spread offense
    Defensive Style: Attacking 4-3

All draft classes will be imported into Madden and that is how I will determine when a player is drafted.

[B]I'm also going to try to keep everything as realistic as possible. So, if a player transferred, in real life, before the 2014 or 2015 season, I will cut him from the roster.

Re: The Return of a Football Power: A Tennessee Volunteers Dynasty (NCAA 14)

            Tennessee Hires Butch Jones

The University of Tennessee announced on Dec. 7, 2012 the hiring of Butch Jones as the 24th head football coach of the Vols. Jones owns a 55-34 record (.618) in seven seasons as a head coach, and his teams have earned bowl appearances in five of his seven seasons as a head coach. Jones is 34-18 (.654) in conference play and both 44-2 when leading at halftime and 45-3 when leading after three quarters. Jones joined UT from the University of Cincinnati, where he finished with a 23-14 record (.657) in three seasons with the Bearcats.

Jones was also the head coach for three years at Central Michigan (27-13, .675, from 2007-09). He has won at least eight games in five of his six years as a head coach, including three seasons of nine-plus wins in the last four years (2009, 2011, 2012). Jones also has won 10 or more games twice, finishing 11-2 at Central Michigan in 2009 and posting a 10-3 record and top 25 final national ranking with Cincinnati in 2011. Jones has also finished the season ranked in the top 25 in three of the last four seasons (2009 with Central Michigan and 2011 and 2012 at Cincinnati). Jones has won four conference championships in his seven seasons as a head coach, including the Big East title in 2011 and 2012 with Cincinnati and the 2007 and 2009 Mid-American Conference titles at Central Michigan. He earned Big East Conference Coach of the Year honors from the league after his 10-win season with the Bearcats in 2011 and earned the same honor from CBSSports.com in 2012, a year in which the 2012 Cincinnati squad captured its second consecutive bowl victory while also finishing with a top 25 ranking. The Bearcats finished the regular season 9-3 with a 5-2 record in the Big East to share the conference crown.

Jones is taking over one of the most prestigious programs in College Football. The Vols claim 6 National Championships, 13 Conference Championships, and has an all-time current record of 799-
            354.

However, Tennessee has fell from it's past powerhouse self in recent years. Jones is Tennessee's 4th coach in the past 6 years. Since 2008 the Tennessee program has been mediocre at best, as it has a combined record of 28-34 and a Conference record of 14-34.

I take it the App State dynasty is over?

Anyway, I remember you trying this last year & it started off good. I'll be around.

I may bring back the App State dynasty.

And thank you for the kind words. Hopefully this time around it will be better and no factory reset will be required haha.

What happened that required a reset, if you don't mind me asking.

I'll be following, always kinda liked Tennessee but I've never known why...haha good luck man.

I'm not really sure why, but I was in the middle of a Tennessee game and my PS3 froze. When I turned it back on, it would try to recover the save data and right afterwards would just go to a black screen every time and there was no way for me to backup my data. So, I called Sony support and they told me that I had to do a factory reset.

But, thanks! Hopefully you all will enjoy this more than the last time I attempted this dynasty :P.

And also, I kinda like Texas Tech as well. Always loved their uniforms and I'm a fan of Kliff Kingsbury.

With this win tonight, Tennessee has now won their 800th game in program history!

Butch Jones has put a huge emphasis on the running game this year as it was nearly non-existent last year... All that work in the off-season has paid off... for now.

Tennessee totaled 271 rushing yards on the night. Senior HB Rajion Neal led the way with 112 rushing yards on 19 carries and 2 TD's. Junior HB Marlin Lane carried the ball 13 times for 84 yards and 3rd string HB Tom Smith carried the ball 13 times for 55 yards and scored a 4th quarter TD as well.

Next week, Tennessee will take on Western Kentucky at home.

Tennessee's defense is the reason they won this game by holding the Hilltoppers to just 10 points.

It took a while to get on the scoreboard, but Tennessee struck first as Justin Worley led the Vols near the goal line. They couldn't score a TD but, Junior Kicker Michael Palardy drilled a 22 yard field goal. Tennessee's defense forced a 3 and out and the Volunteer offense made them pay. The Vols scored their first Touchdown of the game as Justin Worley hit Senior HB Rajion Neal with the screen pass. Neal broke a tackle and had a clear path to the endzone for the easy score.

The 2nd quarter scoring started early as Western Kentucky scored on a 33 yard field goal just over a minute and a half into the quarter. Tennessee responded with a Touchdown as Marlin Lane punched the ball in from 2 yards out on the handoff up the middle. The next score happened at 4:36 left in the half as Senior HB Rajion Neal scored for the 3rd time as he took the handoff up the middle and was tackled forward into the endzone to make the score 24-3. But, with just 0:07 left in the half, Western Kentucky scored a TD as QB Brandon Doughty threw a strike to Junior WR Willie McNeal as he got behind the Tennessee secondary and scored a 39 yard TD with ease. So, the score was now 24-10 heading into halftime with the momentum clearly on the Hilltoppers side... But could they capitalize?

Tennessee ended up being the only team to score in the 2nd half. The Hilltoppers forced a quick possession, but on their first play from scrimmage, HB Antonio Andrews took the ball up the middle and fumbled. Tennessee Senior LB Dontavis Sapp scooped the ball up and darted 26 yards to the endzone for his first collegiate touchdown. The final score of the game happened with just over 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter as Rajion Neal took the handoff on the read option, made a beautiful spin move to make Senior LB Andrew Jackson miss, and made it into the endzone which was his 3rd total TD on the day. With that score, Tennessee extended their lead to 38-10... And that would also be the final score.

Nobody expected Tennessee to stay within 3 scores of this extremely good Oregon offense. The defenses both played well, but Tennessee's surprised everyone by keeping Marcus Mariota in check throwing the ball all game as he only threw for 122 yards.

Both offenses had a horrible time with turnovers. Tennessee turned the ball over 5 times (3 interceptions, 2 fumbles), while Oregon turned the ball over 4 times (2 interceptions, 2 fumbles).

The only score of the 1st quarter was a 3 yard slant pass from Marcus Mariota to WR Keanon Lowe as the Ducks capitalized on a Justin Worley interception. So, at the end of the first quarter Oregon led Tennessee 7-0.

Oregon struck first in the 2nd quarter as Mariota led the Ducks offense down the field and Mariota himself kept the read option and ran 3 yards into the endzone untouched. But, Tennessee would respond as Justin Worley led the Vols down the field and Rajion Neal took the handoff up the middle and was tackled forward for the 3 yard TD run. So, going into the locker rooms, the halftime score was 14-7 Oregon.

Oregon's first TD came on the first play of their possession thanks to CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu intercepting a ball thrown by Justin Worley and returning it 33 yards. So, on the first play, Mariota dropped back and found Senior WR Daryle Hawkins open and threw a perfect pass to him at the 5 yard line. Hawkins then broke a tackle and scored easily making it a 21-7 Oregon lead. Tennessee would respond on their next drive as their 11 play, 75 yard drive ended with another 3 yard run up the middle, this time by backup HB Marlin Lane. The score going into the 4th quarter was 21-14 Oregon.

The end of the 4th quarter is where this game got very exciting. With 3 minutes left in the game Justin Worley threw his 3rd interception and it seemed like the Ducks would escape with a 21-14 win. The Ducks got a first down, but on 2nd down with 1:42 left in the game, Mariota handed the ball off to HB DeAnthony Thomas. Thomas cut to the outside and was hit by S Brian Randolph and fumbled the ball and Tennessee DE Corey Miller recovered the ball. Worley quickly got the Vols into the redzone. Then, with 0:51 left in the game, Worley dropped back to pass and everyone was covered, so Worley scrambled into the endzone from 4 yards out to tie the game at 21! Oregon would then try to heave the ball to the endzone as time expired but the pass was broken up by Freshman CB Cameron Sutton. So, the Vols had a chance to pull off the improbable upset on the road!

Tennessee got the ball first in overtime and they were forced to kick a field goal as Michael Palardy drilled a 35 yarder to put the Vols up 24-21. But, on 3rd and 2, Mariota held onto the ball in the read option play and had a wide open running lane as he scored the game winning 17 yard TD to give the Ducks a 27-24 win at home.
