May 31st, 2015: Royals @ Cubs

Chicago (AP)-

This game was the epitome of the Cubs month of May. The Cubs took the lead early, had a quality pitching performance from their Ace starter but couldn't score enough runs to keep the lead.

Lester gave up a home run to tie the game in the 6th inning and the Cubs waste, not one, not two, but three chances to score the winning run after that happened with men on base each inning but failure to even make contact in those situations.

In the 12th inning after scoreless frames from both bullpens, the Royals and Christian Colon were able to knock a double into left field that would score the lead run and take the lead. The next pitch got by David Ross and was called a Wild Pitch with two outs, no big deal. The next pitch was a ground ball to Kris Bryant who threw the ball over Anthony Rizzo. So just how the month has gone, two Cubs mental mistakes allowed a second run to score.

Then, just as the month has gone, the Cubs got a runner on in Junior Lake, and followed with a double from Addison Russell who has struggled to bring the Cubs within one run.

Dexter Fowler then had a base hit which moved Russell to third and the winning run to first base with one out. Anthony Rizzo followed with a double play ball to the 2nd baseman, because of course he did.

"This has been the most frustrating stretch of games I can remember in my life. We finish the month of may 10-19, with just 7 home runs in those 29 games...... Seriously? I've never seen numbers this bad."
