Chicago (AP)-
Jake Arrieta was phenomenal for the Cubs today, yes he gave up 3 runs, and yes he gave up 8 hits but all three runs were from two Giancarlo Stanton home runs, which are going to happen.
Stanton was the lone Marlins offense on the day and that wasn't going to cut it for the Marlins against the, all of a sudden hot hitting, Cubs. The Cubs were led by Miguel Montero, who after a day off hit not one, but two triples, both aided by missed diving attempts by two different Marlin outfielders.
The Cubs still haven't hit a home run in quite some time but they seem content with waiting on those and hitting a bunch of base hits. Speaking of whom, Addison Russell has been RED HOT lately with a 6 game hitting streak and bringing his average ever closer to the mendoza line.
Post game Roster moves:
Cubs Option RF Mike Baxter to Triple A Iowa
Cubs Recall RF Matt Szczur from Triple A Iowa
