Chicago (AP)-
The Cubs complete their sweep of the Miami Marlins on the back of two additions to the squad from this season. Jason Hammel went 7 and 2/3 innings before he needed to be pulled in favor of Pedro Strop who came in and struck out Giancarlo Stanton to go to the 9th.
Hammel had an answer for everyone in the Marlins lineup except for Michael Morse who homered off of Hammel, not one time but two times in three innings.
The other player that carried the Cubs was rookie Kris Bryant who matched Morse by homering not once but twice in the game, both to Right Field to keep the Cubs in the lead. Miguel Montero also homered during the game which was his second of the series. He hit two bombs with 3 triples in three games out of the cleanup spot.
Dexter Fowler added two doubles and Addison Russell added to his hit streak and creeping ever so slowly back to the mendoza line with his hard hits seeming to fall easier than before.
Post Game Injury Alert:
In the 9th inning, Jorge Soler came up lame by spraining his ankle out in right field. Soler will miss a couple of weeks and the Cubs will need to recall Mike Baxter from Iowa to take his spot.
