I really think Konami AND EA do us a HUGE disservice by not calibrating the tactics, especially because they play a big role in how the game plays. I know, and Matt can attest to this, that there is fundamental coding underneath the hood that cannot be changed but the variety in CPU play (offensively and defensively) can be better configured by both companies to give us a better product out of the box..

The one thing I hate is the evade tackle animation, I am not sure who out Konami thought it was okay for all players to have access to that animation. I even notice that even after contact is made from an attempted tackle they will still engage in the animation, some games just turn into a skip fest out in the middle of the pitch lol.

Agree 100% Royce!

If they removed it you would see fouls because some of the warping the game experienced in the past is gone. You watch any European or SA game and you rarely see players skipping over challenges. Players these days almost ALWAYS go to ground and take the foul.

And they also do a poor job explaining things. The most glaring one is the CENTRE or WIDE defensive option.

You would think that it meant on what you want your team to focus, but it´s not like that.

For example, if you choose CENTRE, it means that your team will try to make the oppponent play THROUGH the centre of midfield (meaning, that defenders will close the flanks MORE.

If you choose WIDE, it means that your team will try to make the opponent play to the flanks, meaning they will have less space between the defenders and be positioned more in centre.

I didn´t make up this distinction, this was actually a last year official Konami explanation about this setting because everyone was using it wrong (due to their poor explanation...)

Now, if you play on Superstar and find yourself playing against a team that you feel it´s easy to beat down the middle, probably this team has this configuration in tactics:

Conservative (they don´t attack the ball carrier much)
A low defensive line (close to their own box)
A CENTRE defensive option (meaning that they will GIVE you the centre of the pitch and cover the flanks more).

It just looks bad because it happens too much even from less agile players. This game could of had the potential to actually have you foul tactically without even going to ground.

Their update won't/shouldn't affect kit,emblem,competition, etc... editing that has been done to date.

You can import kits, they will stay put even after the update. What changes is any names you change, the kits stay.

Also, i know you try to solve all problems of games by editing the animations, and sometimes it works wonders. In this case the last thing needed is improving animations here.

The problems here are the GK´s (terrible), the poorly made tactics of some teams and not enough fouls called (except against teams with agressive setting).

And of course, the sound is horrible across the board and the day games are a pain with those reflections on the pitch...

Boy, it almost seems i don´t like this game!

Names won't change with teams that will all remain the same, formations and banners will change and if you plain on making a separate league right now such as the Bundesliga or MLS that will all get reset.

I believe if you change a players name it will change in the update. Are you sure it won´t? I mean an edited player, will get reset, right?

really turning me off this game and if there is no solution in sight, might just trade it in for fifa, at least its a struggle to score in that game sometimes lol

What I do is just use the same formation for all three but manually change to bring mids and defenders back on out of possession and more forward on in possession.

I think the tactics of Numbers in Attack/Defense are so important. If it's on Many, the runs the players make are crashing towards goal, while taking a defender with them. When it's on "Few" it's more like they are checking to the ball, and the defender is much more aware of players that cross the defensive line threshold.

I've never been more happy to see offsides than I was last night once this was figured out.
