NBA 2K16 Tutorials: Request, Discussion, and Answer Thread

Hi this is Sam Pham, for 2K16 I plan to make plenty of tutorials and I will love to continue to help my fellow OSers (much like I did in 2k15). Therefore, feel free to leave a tutorial video request here in this thread. I will check this daily and when I come up with an answer or a tutorial response I will post them on the top of the thread.

I will also quote the OS member who asked so we can keep track what has been answered.

For those of you struggling to score without the PnR. This one is for you, and it is GLORIOUS.

I would really welcome a tutorial for advanced post moves. I love playing in the post but can't do all the things I'd like it. I love to master the post game in basketball videogames.

    - You don't just want to know the release, study the hot zones and find plays that send shooters to the hot zones IN GAME.

Also, please discuss the tutorials themselves; so if one keeps coming up in the discussion I will either make a part 2 or newer updated version when necessary Upvote the requests/questions you want answered ? I will prioritize those too ^_^

Is gonna be a great year, I honestly love talking to all of you about 2K (if you haven't noticed yet lol). I look forward to our next 365 days of 2k16 discussion together. And be nice to new comers if they ask noob questions, we were all noobs once. Thank you for your time, now let's grind together ^_^

    Sam Pham

*Quick thank you to the Mods and Staff for letting me do this. I always tried to answer everyone when they had questions/requests for me in 2K15, but it got pretty disorganized. I found myself answering the same questions or pointing people to the same tutorials over and over again. This thread is much more organized and has the potential to be able to help tons of people overtime; newcomers and old, with tutorials they want to see. Thank you OS, best 2k forum in the world haha

    Good thread Sam.

They've changed up the isomotion this year. I love the fact that the hop (X/Square and L stick) no longer forces you to pick up the dribble. That is a huge addition.

Great tutorial Sam! Really nice to know that I can cancel my call for handoff and call for drive

Do you have any tips on how to perform a hop step when driving? Most of the time I end up getting a regular layup even tho I direct the left stick away from hoop and taping Square. Same with spin layup.

Maybe pressing Y while holding B.

Also in case anyone doesn't know, holding the direction towards the player as you hold B or Y will allow you to choose the cutter or hand off guy.

Request for the distance, distance future Sam. You started a series on guides on how to use various types of players.

It would be great if you picked up on that, and highlighted different types of play styles. 2k16, makes these play-styles important and relevant.

                      Slashing guards D-rose
Stretch 3-4's that can put the ball on the ground McBuckets/ Mirotic
Back to basket Center Boogie etc.

I have never played an NBA game before and the last basketball game I played was College Hoops. A tutorial on the basic how to of 2k16 would be wonderful. Whatever you are going to do, I certainly appreciate the effort and any help you provide.

This game is truly amazing. I guess I picked a good year to become a Basketball fan.

Can you do one for dribbling? I don't need to know the moves but more so how to explode out of them and launch to the basket.

You did. HAHA. This game is amazing.

And even for intermediate players, I know the concepts, but if I tried to explain to the terminology and the 'why' you do certain things in basketball, I would most certainly lose everybody.

We need a comprehensive introduction to all basic and advanced basketball concepts and rules, if done via 2k, could be done well.

To do that you simply have to hold circle then tap triangle. Is a vice versa system Great question tho, i should have mentioned it in the vid .. Handoffs are less prone to crazy risky passes tho because the receiver is coming at you. But yes you can cancel tap by tapping triangle ^_^
