Re: NBA 2K16 Available Today, Post Your Impressions Here
Very impressed. A lot that needs to be said both positively and negatively has been said.
For me, what stands out the most (and is always the first thing I look for) is team specific play styles and the immersion factor.
So far so good. Playing against the big man Philly Sixers was a vastly different experience than playing the shooting heavy champions.
Really enjoyed how I saw Curry looking for his points. I guarded him primarily with Chris Paul and that was the only successful match up. Playing tight on him kept Curry off the three point line but the Warriors are so efficient. So many weapons. Instead they killed me on pick and rolls.
The difference in speed is incredible just from seeing Draymond Green waltz pass me as Blake when defending him at the three point line. And when I started sagging off, he just drilled a three instead. Not sure how anyone in real life is beating this team for the next half decade.
Also pissed me off watching Green celebrate his baskets and And 1s while up by like 30 in the 4th. And he was the only one. So Green. I love the guy in real life but I can see why some hate him.
I got blown out in that match up but I know I have a lot to learn. I feel as if I started playing bad basketball to win games in 2k15. My biggest complaint was it felt like street ball was the only remedy to scoring.
So far I have had no success with that broken logic and I'm glad. I need to Re learn patience and setting up my offense. I couldn't be happier.
On a somewhat different note, my girlfriend, ever the critic in my playing video games but still understanding enough to know I enjoy doing so, walked in on me playing and seemed utterly impressed. Now this is the usual story where someone that doesn't care about video games is always super surprised with the presentation and graphics. I mean her first comment was, "this looks sick. Much better than the last basketball video game I've seen: NBA Jam." (Yes folks the original Jam. This is what I'm working with here!) But the point is she was impressed with the commentary (just shows we are so wrapped up in this that we forgot how impressive it really is), and the post game interview.
"Does he (Klay Thompson) really sound like that?"
"Yeah."
"Where is he from? It's weird."
Girlfriends. Gotta love them.
