The Game as a Big Man - MyCareer

For anyone getting the game without preordering, or anyone yet to make a MyPlayer and doesn't know exactly what they want as their player, this thread is for you.

Well it seems the Whole 7'3" dribbling like Kyrie Irving is gone, i'm sure their will be plenty less bigmen out there. Being a PF, or C is the toughest position by far, just because there is less of them, and more moves to get to know.

When creating ANY player, it's always good to have a basic mold off an NBA player, not exactly the same, but the same type of player. I myself have molded my 6'10" to be a monster like Anthony Davis, who kicked my *** the first time I played him.

So, my PF is a 79 Overall, Interior Defender (Kinda like Serge Ibaka you could say) and it's VERY hard scoring. I usually score in between 8-16 points a game, on the Nets. Most games, at least half of my points come from the foul line just because I can't get inside, and post moves are very limited to my player, and because my guy can draw contact well.

So, first mistake I made was picking inside scorer, I thought Inside was everything inside the 3pt line, and I was wrong. My Mid-Range jumper has a cap of 66 now... and for this fact, I might need to recreate a player with the balanced scoring option. I recommend for PF you pick Balanced, and for Center, pick Inside.

Rebounds, a LOT harder to come by now, and you HAVE to box out, or be boxed out. Double-Doubles are hard to come by, I've gotten one so far, in my second season of play.

Blocks, a lot more sensible when they happen, more rewarding as well. But don't be surprised when someone like Anthony Davis blocks your ball back into the crowd, it happens. A lot actually, but everytime I've been blocked, it was a bad shot on my part.

The first thing you'll notice is how long your guy is, I maxed out the wingspan (not sure if that effects speed) but I definitely recommend the extra wingspan, when you get beat off the dribble you have a good chance at a nice swat.

The second thing you'll notice is the speed. Or how much speed there isn't. My 3 main categories I've upgraded have been: Athleticism, Jump Shooting, Inside Scoring. And my guy is still noticeably slower than my 7'3" Center in 2K15. But this is for the better, trust me.

So all in all, being a Bigman is a High Risk-High Reward type thing. If you get to be very skilled at playing it, then Pro-am teams are gonna be recruiting you until you die. But unfortunately, you give up a lot of the fun on MyPark, as it's hard for guards to play bigs all the time, and it's not as fun as a guard when playing MyPark, so I recommend getting a guard player for that.

After skipping MyCareer last year I started a 6'10 inside scoring PF as well. I actually have no troubles with scoring and rebounding at all. I'm a 63 overall now and averaging 20/15 with 21 minutes per game on Simulation/Superstar. My defense is decent but not great, need to increase my lateral quickness for better rotations, but apart from that no one dominated me yet.

How come you have trouble with scoring? Setting picks and rolling towards the rim is fairly easy, my advice is to not rush things. Keep the spacing of your team on point, if PG/SG's drive they can pass the ball to you when your defender rotates. Rebounding is really underwhelming, a 6'10, 63 overall with no VC spent on Rebounding, should not be able to box out and rebound the ball so easy.

I'm loving my 6'9 balanced PF! My ath is maxed out, def is around 18 with rebounding and box out at 80. I took ball handling high while out/in scoring is low and I sorta regret that. Ball is stripped a lil too easily while I'm in the post still. Obviously I have to earn every point if it isn't an easy PNR or get an offensive rebound and even then I still get rejected if I'm not careful.

Defense is really fun to play this year, especially when you get chasedown artist! I'm in year 3 on the Magic and on SS/sim I avg around 15/13 4 dimes and 3 blocks in 18 minutes ( I think)

Two very important things about being a big man is it teaches post moves and how to contain quick guards more effectively.

The whole P&R doesn't really fit into the Nets Offense, Jarret Jack is starting PG, so that doesn't help. I also play on HOF/Sim, and P&R isn't exactly what I had in mind at the moment of play, but I can definitely see how it helps my game.

im a big man myself too. last year i was small center (6'9") and i was beasly in the park but in rec and mycareer i was too small.

this year i chose to model myplayer after shaq (favorite all time) and i LOVE the new post moves setup. rebounding has logic to it, my post game is identical to shaqs, and i like how i can defend in the paint this year too.

BUT i am super slow which is cool cause its balanced. if a team notices early enough, they can just run me off the floor im and im pretty .much a non factor

Re: The Game as a Big Man - MyCareer

big props to you starting this thread, ive been a big man fan in mycareer since 2k11. here's my take on how the big man plays in 2k16.

one attribute new this year that you guys noticed in the athlete tree is contact dunk. when you up athlete to 15, your standing dunk, driving dunk, and contact dunk soar to the 80s. now, as you guys know, ratings this year in 2k are relative to hall of famers. for instance, shaq's contact dunk is 99, meaning he does not give a f*ck whos defending him when he establishes deep position in the paint, hes gonna murder that rim.

i quickly checked the contact dunk ratings of big men dunkers, such as dwight howard, boogie, tyson chandler. to my surprise, their contact dunk ratings are in the low 50s, low 60s. meanwhile, blake griffin and deandre jordan have contact dunk ratings in the 90s.
this means that a low 80s contact dunk plants you in elite territory among big men in today's league.

so when my 7'1" 285lb inside center hauls in an offensive rebound, he humiliates the opposing center by making him his poster. and when he sets a bone-jarring pick (gold brick wall is GOLD), he doesnt play cute with it and pop to flick his wrist for a dainty mid range jumper. he hauls *** to the paint, receives the carom and breaks the rim.

2k16 finally lets big men fans play like the dominant big man of the 90s, when they were lions feeding on sheep. dunking with power and grace, crashing the boards, and defending the paint like a mother bear protecting her cubs from f*ckers.

my perspective as a fan of the game and basketball.

As an inside big man sometimes I think about remaking my guy as balanced because not having a shot sucks lol. But man my dunking is 94 and I just slam on everybody so that is a plus

I really don't want to make anther big so I guess I'll stick to him. If I do I'll make a 6'9 PF balanced

I'm thinking they will. I created an inside scoring 6'10 C. I know the few times I got a guard on me in a switch in the post and was able to just bully him to the rim and turn and lay it up right over him. I didn't have high numbers for standing dunk or anything so I'm interested in seeing how it works once those numbers are higher.

I made a 6'10 inside center.. First thing i did was Max out dunking. Then I put his outside and inside at 6 slots each, none in playmaking his rebound and defense is 5 each. I love my guy!! He's inside out side so they say but my mid is 41 ha ha

I've been playing as a big for the past couple 2Ks and this year is awesome. I can actually throw my weight around and not be backed down in the post and play smart hands up defense where they actually struggle to score.

                          I'm a 79 OVR iirc and I'm absolutely dominating averaging 20+ points and 20 boards with 4.5 blks on Superstar/sim I'm 6'11 inside center.

I'm an elite paint protector and absolutely suck outside of 3-4ft on offense. I would have liked to hit the J out to 16 feet but oh well. I'll build up my post offense by the end of this season.

That's what I made my guy. I feel like it's a good balance of size and speed w/o being cheesy. I'm enjoying it!

The night it came out I had a pau gasol Anthony Davis mix I wanted to make so I made him balanced, long wingspan, and 6 foot 10 250 pounds. But I've upgraded defense athlete and balanced everything else. I gave him gasol shot with quick release and I can pretty much shoot with people in my face. I just fake a pass and when they bite I shoot it up. If I can't then I pass it to the cutter or the wing. I've been pretty successful with that approach.
