Dortmund Survive In Hanover | Win 1 - 0
Hanover – A rainy Saturday afternoon in Hanover provided a surprisingly exciting match between Hannover and the visiting Borussia Dortmund. The players were eager to get this match in after the international break, in which many of the Dortmund players played in Euro Qualifiers for their respective countries—and, perhaps more importantly, Dortmund boss Josh Hedges got his first taste of international football, leading the defending World Cup Champion Germans to a 2-2 draw with Portugal, and a 3-0 smashing of Northern Ireland, to see them win their group, and easily qualify for Euro 2016 next year in France.
Hannover came out of the gate swinging, launching 5 shots in the first 4 minutes of the game, as the Dortmund defense looked rather shaky after the two week break. Things finally slowed down, and the game was a stagnant 0-0 draw until the 2nd half. Dortmund fired 15 shots on the afternoon, but was able to connect on only 1, a strike from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 60’ to break the stalemate. Despite a barrage of shots from Hannover in the closing minutes, Dortmund was able to hold on to the 1-0 victory and secure the much needed 3 points, to put them in a 4 way tie for 2nd place, already 5 points behind Bayern Munich (4-0-0).
