I'm an Orioles fan obviously, so with the back of our bullpen I never experience that feeling lol

That's cause last year those games were decided way before the ball got to the back of the pen.

It's that nervousness in the air. The winners feel the pressure to maintain their lead. The team coming from behind finds a sense of calm in a nothing to lose mentality. Tides shift. Momentum builds and takes as much to distinguish as it did to mount a lead.

After promising myself that I wasn't going to buy this years version straight out of the gate, what with the previous PS4 versions being buggy on release, predictably I caved after seeing all the developer videos!!

Have to say though I have been pretty disappointed so far!!

Player models are still PS3.
Pitchers still getting hit too often!!
Still no urgency from fielders, especially in situations that merit it.
The air ball lob throws are also still in there and usually occur at the worst time ie trying to do a double play.
AI bullpen usage is still suspect.
Baserunning appears to be broken!!
Frame rate issues presumably caused by the new PBR system.
PCI still seems to have little relevance within the game!!
Despite the claims about the new precision input engine I am still seeing way too many hits/fouls when the PCI is nowhere near the ball. Likewise when you do get good timing with the ball in the centre of the PCI there are still those dribblers in front of home plate or too many chopppers!!
And don't get me started about online play!!

Having said all that I am still going to play the game to death!!

I just wish that instead of concentrating on the look of the game the devs would pay more focus to sorting gameplay issues and baseball fundamentals first then worry about the light/texture in the dugouts!!

I've only played two games but I don't see any of the above issues.

I find hitting to be very rewarding this year. Whatever precision input did, I hope it stays.

I have sympathy for all of you who are having troubles while online. I'm sure that's frustrating.

But, as a purely OFFLINE player, I want to make it clear that the game is as smooth as can be. I have not experienced any lag whatsoever. And, when i had some delay in screens loading, I simply DCd the connection and it went away.

I'm only contributing this so potential buyers know it's a server thing and not the game itself.

Of course, I may be the only person who doesn't care about online modes, so take it for what it's worth.

On another note, I'm still plagued by my runners diving back to first on obvious hits. That's a whole other subject

Been playing Conquest DD so that is what I will base this part of my impressions on.

First and foremost....I LOVE THIS MODE!!! Always wanted to play and invest in DD but have never like the shows online connection. Too much timing for online delay, but I digress. This mode is amazing for a player like myself. I am into it and the 3 inning structure is great for just wanting to get some baseball in when I don't have the hour or so a full nine innings will take. Ergo my wife like this mode too!

Inside Edge has changed the game. No more just putting one guy in forever. Having the option to use more players based on their IE match-up has me using guys I would never use regularly. For my team that is mostly at 2nd and Catcher, but I've seen the affects of not rotating out a 1 or 2 star player even if they are elite.

Conquest it self is fun, fun, fun. If you are like me and like to play in every park just to see different hitters eye, pitching broadcast cams and park nuiances you'll love the ability to play in every park as you see fit.


That said there are some things that I just don't like about it the mode and would like to see improved for next year.

DH or lack there of. I know that there are fans that perfer the NL style of ball. I am not one of them. But I am also a guy who beleives IRL that the road team should bring their rules in interleague play. I think it would be cool to see a pitcher bat at Camden yards when the Nationals are in town. But I feel at the very least the game should have a DH in AL parks. Seems like a no brainer to me. (again not a DD guy so if its always been this way then so be it.)

Not playing games when I am attacked. Self explanatory. If a team is attacking my territory it would be nice to have the option to play that game rather that sit there helpless as I lose a territory that I just had to play the game to acquire (I know you can sim, but I want to play the game). This ties into my next point.

Where are the home games? Spend all this time making home uniforms and I NEVER get to wear them in conquest? In my eyes allowing us to play games when our territory is being attacked solves two of my issues.

Server issues and games. So if I play a game win or lose and I lose my connection to the servers that game doesn't count and has to be replayed. But if I have to leave and can't return tot he game I get credited with a loss. I know this opens it self up for exploits, but this is a single player mode so they are what exploiting themselves? Good for the goose good for the gander IMO.

In conclusion conquest is the only mode I've really played while waiting for OSFM and I am a huge fan. I think with a couple of improvements to flesh/round out game play this mode is a real winner.

To play with your home uniforms in Conquest mode, go to the play computer option. You can choose to be the home team and which stadium to play in.

With a couple weeks played I'll give some detailed impressions but try to keep it simple.

Gameplay:
I've had SO many freezes this year, something I thought I'd never say for a Show game. Home Run Derby freezes, post game freezes, menu freezes, etc. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing 30-45 minutes of progress wasted.

I do prefer hitting this year. There's more variety in hit types. I still need to fool around with sliders to be happy with fielder/runner speed and whatnot.

Graphics:
PBR makes things pop. Stadiums look gorgeous to the point where upgrades don't even seem necessary for the next year or two.

PBR and stadium beauty comes at a price though. Stadiums look so gorgeous that player models look out of place. Jerseys are still depressingly inaccurate. Logos are too small, numbers are too low/too thin. Simply put, they need fixed in 2017, not 2018, not 2019... 2017.

There's a lot of clipping with player sleeves and arm equipment this year.

Game Modes:
People play this game for different reasons. While Battle Royale and Conquest should make DD guys happy, I hope next year is more about producing quality rather than quantity. The menu connection times are so bad that these game modes are not going to entice offline guys like me to even touch them. I want more immersive modes, not several different gimmicky modes.

Franchise mode is a minimal improvement. The chemistry is a nice little addition, but I was hoping for more.

Little Things:
Being able to skip fielding and baserunning for RTTS/player lock is huge for me. Easily my favorite feature.

Seeing a guy's home jersey in the player edit screen is a huge help.

Sounds of the Show because well, its Sounds of the Show.

Closed roofs are an addition Im enjoying more than I expected.

VERDICT
SCEA does a lot of great things each year but I can't help but feel like this is an unpolished game. Despite the improvements, I feel like PBR is what saves this game from feeling like just a roster update. Without PBR, I wouldn't say theres 60 dollars worth of improvements here. But if they can get the freezing and connection issues figured out, I'd still recommend this game to fans of baseball because its still a fantastic game. 8/10

Well, I've played the series since it was just MLB, and my point is there are many things guys complain about that I don't see whether it's two games or 100.

It's instantly noticeable that hitting is improved. To me, at least. So I don't have that issue.

I have had plenty of baserunners and don't see issues there either.

Player models being ps3. Okay, sure. Fire up that ps3 and remind yourself what ps3 looked like. I should have stopped reading the post when I saw this.

Pitchers getting rocked. Seems completely random to me. Sometimes an ace gets rocked. Sometimes Cabrera doesn't hit a home run. I'm not sure I understand this complaint.

Fielders not rushing to plays. I have not seen this issue in three years. With all of the grounders and fly balls I've seen in two games, I'm sure I can judge whether this suddenly came back. Must be user induced.

It's not like these complaints are new to this season. I have my complaints about this game. I'll gladly share them again when the time comes to complain about presentation or franchise mode or hitters eye (seriously, should be an option, at least), but I'm not going to suddenly notice problems in areas mentioned by some when I noticed the improvements to those particular things.

After playing MLB 16 The Show, which by the way is a great game I have some opinions that add a more authentic touch to the game:

1. It would be great if you add a catcher animation framing a strike call especially called third strike. Just the attention to details would go along way.

2. Making the color more brighter, for example The Mets orange is much more brighter than what in the game especially when it comes to glove and uniform color. Also the blue, navy blue and light blue is way off too.

3. For more experiences player, you can add an off option for Fielding Decision and Sliding Decision so that we could have more control of the player for fielding and sliding.

And I wanted to add that the cut scene when playing at Royals stadium show downtown St Paul Minnesota.
