Petition to ungroup MyPlayer Attributes for 2017

It's been said ad nauseum, but grouping together attribute upgrades into "blocks" for MyPlayer mode was the single worst change that was made to the mode and has made every player similar with no room for customisation.

Big men have to be able to shoot 3s to hit Free Throws, point guards becoming insane dunkers in order to be able to run fast, etc etc.

I'd like to get as many people's feedback on bringing back the ability to upgrade attributes 1 by 1 like in the past.

It totally killed my enthusiasm for playing Mycareer this year and then bringing my guy online as I'm exactly like every other player of the same position.

Keep attribute caps but allow individual upgrades in 2K17 PLEASE.

I agree 100%, there's no variety in player types in Park and almost every team in Pro am plays the same as a result of the players all being the same.

It's a shame that we players have to ask for them to make game more realistic in first place but yeah i agree, bring back SIM basketball with SIM style attributes instead of this group style joke.

Making a center who should have high inside shot rating but abysmal FT ala Drummond is literally I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E.

Agreed 110%. There was no reason whatsoever for them to oversimplify the system like they did. It is RIDICULOUS that you have to become a better three point shooter to become a better free throw shooter. Or that you have to become equally as good at shooting moving jumpers if you want to get better at shooting set jumpers. And on and on.

It is the most baffling, anti-sim change ever and would take absolutely nothing to change it back to the way it was.

I agree. I have a point guard modeled around Steph Curry (Though he has to be a midget to be good at shooting 3's) and I have to be some insane dunker to be able to run fast.

Or a good 3 point shooter to just have a Mid Range J.

I wanted to model a player after prime Wade. Good inside and midrange weak 3.

This thread X1000 and the ability to select a playstyle that actually makes sense like in the past and build up your character from there. Introduce attribute requirements for ball handling moves and even more strict for the ones that are supposed to be difficult like in real life. I'm tired of seeing 7'3 C's pulling these guard like size ups.

Please for the love of god make certain shooting animations available via the position you play. Watching a 7'0+ 300lb player rise up for a jumper and having a quick release like Steph Curry is just baffling.

This goes for layup packages and everything else that's equippable and made available to players of all heights and positions. You want to see different players? Then make stuff exclusive to their positions.

Re: Petition to ungroup MyPlayer Attributes for 2017

I've had enough of the attribute system. There's no variety unless you make a sacrifice to something in order to make a specific type. Even then, you screw up your player.

There's no such thing as a pure point forward (or center) or even a pure slashing player. You want to max out your layup to its cap? You upgrade your post moves too. Just want to upgrade your mid range? You upgrade your 3 and free throw. Over half the big men in the league do not have perfectly even rebounding ratings. The contact dunk rating is illogical because it matches PERFECTLY to whatever your driving dunk rating is. An outside PG can get to a 70 dunk, therefore having a 70 contact dunk: higher than EVERY backcourt player and SF in the game, except three people (Nique, Dr. J, & Glenn Robinson III). That's put every player, by default, on par with the contact dunk of Vince Carter if they max out their athlete. Bad move!

I could keep going, but I'll get into creating position/height specific dunk, layup, and dribble move animations. And for the love of God, can someone at VC and 2K give us back the ability to customize our jump shots?!? Having preset releases is absolutely restrictive and unnecessary considering they put that in the game for mycareer players!

Re: Petition to ungroup MyPlayer Attributes for 2017

The reason 2k did this was to prevent day 1 99's, because the community had been complaining about that, so they had to introduce this so they could tie it up with playing 7 games (15) or 5 practices (16).

They also bumped the cost up of maxing out your player at the same time (for vc purposes). I'd like the old athletic/slashing/scorer playstyles back, but I've never got the argument of: I want to create x player who can do this, that and the other, but not shoot 3's (for example). Just don't shoot 3's then, problem solved.

Be careful what you wish for.

I'm not sure the bit in bold is accurate. In fact, it can't be anywhere near true.

Shooting animations should bear no relation to position, and layup packages are aslo separated by position.

Sad but true. The Nique, Dr. J and Vince sit at a 70 contact. I actually am wrong in saying the first two were higher than that rather than on par with outside players like I said for Vince. Therefore, believe it or not, Glenn Robison III actually is the only non-bigman on the official roster with over a 70 contact dunk (at a 75).

Some elite dunkers (non-bigmen) in the game like T-Ross or Aaron Gordon have fairly even contact dunks (50, 60 respectively). I'm not too sure about myTeam-exclusive players, but on the official rosters, this is 100% truth.

Shooting animations should definitely be in relation to position. What 7'3 C in NBA history can rise up like Ray Allen and release the ball like the splash bros? It's not realistic at all and removes the boundaries of seeing different players at least across positions.

I'm not saying that there aren't C's in real life over 7'0 that have a fairly quick release, but you don't see them actually jumping in the air first before they release the ball. It is more like a set shot than a jump shot due to how difficult it is for a player that size to have any type of athleticism. A 5'7 170 PG vs a 7'3 300 C should not have the same mechanics when shooting a jump shot ever.

EDIT: Even removing the weight from the equation if the C was even like 225 they still won't have the same mechanics as a nimble guard when it comes to shooting.
