Or have an "Early Access" you can buy into with the understanding that you're playing a beta version. Then when it's release day, Early Access players download patch to make them up to release while everyone else can just buy like normal. Maybe throw on some incentives for the Early Access folks, have "feedback contests" something to encourage even more bug finding, etc. I remember one year I got a cap from buying the game (09 was it? Maybe 06?) something like that - or maybe if the top 3 bug finders get a nice prize or something.

That way, you'd get some beta testers in to pound the game before release and find the issues and test the systems in place. Maybe even have folks TRY to exploit things. Heck, encourage it. Make it an event to find the loopholes.

I don't know - maybe that's too "out there" but I think something could be done.
