Where the heck is the mid-range game in 2k16?

I don't see as many threads as there should be for the mid-range game in 2k16, which is a huge problem to me. I am starting to play well on SUPERSTAR SIM, not losing a lot every game now, and in fact I can sometimes beat the CPU (but only with teams I am good with like the Raptors, Thunders). However, the more I play this game, the more I feel like, on offense, there are only three ways to score, one is fastbreak which I just run on the CPU and score layups and dunks, another one is post up, just dump the ball down low and do some hook shots, and the last one is pick and roll for the big to cut and dunk or for the big to shoot the three.

With that being said, the most important part of the game, the mid range is gone, I can almost never score a mid range jumper, like the plays don't really get me an open shot at the mid range area, I am always being forced to shoot the three ball which I am being contested most of the time because the CPU's defenders are like glued to my guys, they recover and go through the picks so fast that the plays are useless...and I can never do the motion of jap, drive, and do a jump stop and take a mid range shot, I can almost never shoot in front of the guy's face and score...yeah lots of complains on the mid range game being missed in this game.

Do you guys see the same thing???

The mid-range game is lacking but you could also make a point that it is a lost art in the nba. Have you tried messing around with the playbooks? I have a few plays that set rudy gay up for mid range jumpers or a high post.

Really? I've found the mid range over powering the in 2k16. It's one of the easiest way to get buckets in 2k16. Especially with stretch bigs.

Threes and layups are the only shots worth taking.

That's what the elite teams do now.

The lack of a midrange game in 2K16 is realistic.

This. Mid range is super easy. It is usually money when you're not contested.

Yet the team that won the chip had the most elite midrange shooter this year?

Midrange works, but its harder to get clean midrange look compared to dunk or 3pointer. In MyPark though, its the easiest and most reliable way of scoring, but in other modes spacing is way too tight and closeouts are too fast once you get a little bit of space to pull up a midrange jumpshot.

With elite midrange players i like this kinda standing fadeaway shot:

Really works well against quick close out by defender .

Someone wins the title every year.

                How many teams win 73?

Thanks for the responses brothers! Any plays recommend that can set me some nice open mid range jumpers? I am talking about offline plays only because this is what I do only, I don't enjoy playing online...actually don't have time for it is the better reason...lol

I haven't played 5v5 mode in awhile, but did you try assigning midrange plays for your players? This always helped me and the plays starting with quick are off-ball screens and pindowns for your shooters.

the mid range game is frustrating (like 500 other things in this game). you're right about mid range screen plays routing the shooter to the 3point line most of the time. if you're a great passer or a dimer, you can time the pass to route the player properly to the mid range area, but it's rough when it shouldn't be.

with the annoying animation of extra steps before a jumpshot that turn open shots into contested ones, slow and lazy one dribble pull ups, inability to stepback because of being stuck on a defender and just control clunkiness in general, and cpu ai always playing you tight in an iso situation it makes the mid range game incredibly frustrating.

I think you guys are confusing it .

The close range shot is incredibly easy and rarely misses in this game even contested . That's about 15ft and under.

The midrange shot 15ft+ Basically long 2s are the most inconsistent shot in 2k. But it's a "lost art" in the NBA so it's realistic in a way.

I love that people say it doesn't exist anymore.... hahaha... Did you watch the finals?....jk

But really to say it doesn't exist is BS. CP3, Kyrie, Dirk, LMA and a few others make their living in the med range. You can't get that with these players. This game just doesn't let you get into those areas.

Man, I love the mid-range game in 2k. One of my go-to plays on offense are Floppy plays. If the guy isn't open off of the screen, I'll either call a pick & pop with a big or manually get them to post up if they have an advantage down low.

It is all Playbooks and individual place types for the players . I overhaul all playbooks in my Rosters. A good slider set can help as well to go along with the above listed edits. Also Tendencies for players ply a huge part.
