Defensive AI looks weak

To be fair, aren't the Jets one of the lowest rated defenses in the game this year?

Bc they are able to reach a lot of people through their YouTube channels and such. They get to play the game early and EA gets free advertising

Safety play (or lack there of) is concerning

yeah, that was an issue in 16 as well. Sucks if its still there.Deep balls and drags/slants seem to be rather open in alot of videos ive seen, not just this one.Im still honestly waiting to see this new improved def route matching they talked so much about back in may....

It's not even that deep routes are open its that they should be covered when the safety is in position but instead of attempting to do anything relative to football they just stand there and give up the catch

yeah thats what i mean by them being open.I mean if a guy is standing in place or not, if they just gonna stand there doing nothing, its the same to me as it being wide open. Pissed me off a ton in madden 16 when it happened. Guess i best be ready to be pissed off a ton in madden 17 too.

Its even worse when your usering said saftey, and actually hit the button to play ball or play wr, and still the son of a B just stands there watching . When that happens all i can think is, why the hell do i have a button to tell him to do something, if he is just gonna stand there and do nothing. might was well watch the cpu play cpu ... which to me is boring as hell.

Receivers can and will jump out of the stadium to make ridiculous catches but defensive backs are almost glued to the ground at times even if you do press a button to make a play on the ball. I know receivers are typically bigger and more athletic than defensive ends but these guys are still nfl athletes. They should at least look like they are attempting to make a play.

I haven't watched all these videos fully but has anyone noticed improvements to pass interference calls?

I don't think wideouts are more athletic than defensive backs. I actually think the opposite is true, as a wideout you know the route you're running and where you need to be, as a dback you need to be prepared for any possible number of route combos and be able to react to them

Surprisingly, it looked pretty good. The only glaring issue I noticed was the Safety standing there flat footed giving OBJ the TD.Hard to believe that was All Madden Safety play.
Drag routes should be wide open against any zone defensive when the flats are left uncovered. playing defense is supposed to be difficult.

Sorry meant to further elaborate on the PI calls. I hate that a receiver can have their progress impeded because they are running into a defender, as if they can go right through them, but nothing is called. This has been a problem for as long as I can remember and it's just so frustrating. I'd atleast like to see an added animation where a receiver and dB will attempt to seperate from eachother.

Well typically receivers have a height and leap/jump advantage, at least the premier receivers. There are a lot of receivers and TEs 6 feet and above but there aren't too many defensive backs with that type of size. I think more often that not a receiver/tight end have the advantage in a jump ball situations but the defensive backs, in real life, with at least attempt to break up the play. In madden there are many instances where the defensive back doesn't even make an attempt, or can't make an attempt

Unless the blogger was actually playing as the Giants - why the hell would the AI (if it was the AI) call a play when up by 14 points with 30 seconds to play? Take a knee!

playing defense is supposed to be difficult.

Ehhhhh.....bit of a slippery slope here. Defense just won a championship last season. Not sure it should be looked as one side "easier or harder" than the other, but rather results that should make sense either way.
