The run at 11:12 was a thing of beauty, the commentary is real good!Xbox Series X: KILLMUNGERComment

Madden 17 really does look really great overall but man those running animations just ruin it for me. I mean just look at some of those big runs by the running backs. They honestly look like robots running down the field so disappointed in seeing that year after year
I don't know why but this 1 thing just bothers me so much about Madden. I really wish I could ignore it but I can't. My hats off to EA Sports though for making everything else look and sound so good this year.
Madden is definitely finally heading in the right direction that's for sure!Last edited by tnixen; 08-17-2016, 03:41 PM.Comment

Re: Full Game Redskins at Steelers, in game commentary (FranchisePlay)
Open field running does need a lot of work, it does not look natural looks like they are running on a treadmill, Fifa's running looks much better. Also I think ball carriers need to straiten up their backs more while running in the open field, when in the open field runners do not stay hunched over.
Forward Hitch Run Cycle
Watch for the "forward hitch" every 15 yards once the running back breaks free from the pack. It's the same running motion every 15 yards. It's just in a recycle run cycle loop. If they were going to do a run cycle, the animator should have made sure the last and first frames transition smoothly.
Zig Zag Pursuit Angles
Secondly, it's strange (and has always been a trait of Madden) how the trailer #80 is running in a left right left right fashion. This falls back on how the developers program pursuit angles. This is a classic Madden concern unfortunately -- you can make the defenders "dance and zig zag left, right, left, right" as long as you make the ball carrier move in a left right fashion. I hoping this particular Madden trait would be eliminated. Here's hoping the developers change the way to program pursuit angles. Rather than a straight line towards the ball carrier, I would like to see pursuit angles towards the area of the ball carrier.
Hitches every 15 yards (@45 yard, @30 yard, @15 yard, @endzone; run cycle loop)

I just notice the following (1st gif image) and is a very telling sign of the reason why open field running just has never aesthetically looked proper with Madden even though that's how they do it with video games (run cycles).

You would think they could just mo-cop new running animations for different sized players or just do whatever the hell FIFA does.Comment
