OK. Well here you go OS F1 racers. Enough of you seemed interested so here it is.

Re: F1 2016 Career Mode Progression (XB1,PS4,CPU)
heading into the Japanese GP, screenshots of my current progress.
Driver points
I've been closing in on Hamilton, Kimi is starting to pull me back in. He has had some really bad luck with DNFs, same with Grojean.
Constructor points
the Mercades have really dropped the last 4-5 races. no podiums is a while.
They dominated early on, so they may hang on to still get 2nd.
the Ferrari powered cars(Ferrari, Haas, Torro Rosso) have been climbing in that span
My finishes so far in the season
5 straight Podiums for me in the last half of the season.
R&D Progress so far
Ferrari now on top, Toro Rosso passes big brother Red bull, as has Haas.
Renault is the surprise team to me. they made a bunch of upgrades the last few races and jump up a lot. they still don't have any points yet. -
Re: F1 2016 Career Mode Progression (XB1,PS4,CPU)
finished the Japanese GP, closest I have been to a win so far in career mode.
started 4th. the race was Full wets all race long. all of practice was dry and Qualifying was light rain in Intermediates.
I got a great start, got up to 2nd behind Vettel.
after 2 laps, I was able to get by and pull away from Vettel.
I lead all the way until the only pitstop in the race, I stayed out 1 lap longer, and that was enough for Vettel to gain over 5 seconds on me and come out ahead. I slowly reeled him back in, but was 1 lap too short, finished less than 1 second from him.
Vettel locked up the Drivers championship with that win. Hamilton finished 3rd, the gap between mw and him now only 9 points.
Next race in my home GP, US Grand Prix in Austin.
I'm going to be pushing like hell to try and win that race.Comment

Hamilton and Rosberg always seem to dominate, other than Hamilton's DNF I don't think either has finished outside the top 5. Also, has anyone seen any surprise drivers/teams? And, do other drivers switch teams after the season?Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Re: F1 2016 Career Mode Progression (XB1,PS4,CPU)
Got my first win in Career mode, the US GP.
It wasn't that eventful of a race. I took the pole narrowly over Vettel. Me and Vettel both did the same tire strategy n Q2 and used the softs and barely got into Q3.
turn 1 lap 1
Vettel beat me to turn 1, but later in the lap, I got a run and got by him.
not sure what happened to Vettel, he just dropped back and I never saw him again. I think he finished 6th in the end.
I lead all the lap until I pitted on lap 13. I came out behind Kimi, but he was on a 2 stopper while I only pitted once.
I retook the lead when he pitted, he came out 15 seconds behind me. He was closing in fairly quickly, nearly a second a lap, but I hung on to get my first win.
the win put me 1 point ahead of Hamilton for 2nd in the points.
I think I will increase the difficulty for next season to Legend and start playing with custom setups to try and make up the difference. I tried before and was always qualifying back in 20th-22nd, even with laps faster than I was doing on expert to get the pole(using one of the preset setups).
Grojean got stuck behind some of the slower cars doing 1-stops and ended up 7th I believe, right behind Vettel. He was fast all practices, just didn't qualify good(9th).Comment

Re: F1 2016 Career Mode Progression (XB1,PS4,CPU)
Have a career going with Haas, ready to do the race at Catalunya next. I started with different settings than what I am using now, started with medium traction control and medium ai difficulty. After finishing 2nd at bahrain i turned the difficulty up to hard and it's been a better fit for me combined with turning any traction control off entirely.
I finished 5th at Sochi with my new settings and have qualified 4th for my upcoming Catalunya race. I almost got caught out by rain in Q1 in Spain, it was full wet at the beginning so I ran early and set a good lap that I thought would get me to Q2 easily. HOWEVER, when I got back to the garage I noticed I was down in 14th and on the verge of being bumped out of Q2! Well it turns out the rain was subsiding and everyone was setting quicker lap times on the Intermediate tire!!! So with 4 minutes left in Q1 I quickly put on a set of Inters and went back out. The pressure was ON as I only had time for 1 flying timed lap, luckily I put a good one together and set a top-5 time to get me through to Q2.
It's the moments like that, whether its a weather situation or race strategy or whatever, that make this game so enjoyable for me.Comment

Just a quick update, did my race in Spain, finished 6th. I really only had the pace for about a 10th place finish but I managed to barely stay ahead of both Red Bulls for the last 5 laps or so, some crazy racing. I'm glad to be done with Catalunya, for whatever reason I am bad at that track compared to all the others I've played so far. Next up is MonacoComment

Have fun with Monaco. I'm going to just let Tony Stark drive that track next season for me.GO 'HAWKS!

Yeah both Red Bulls were faster than me but their inability to pass kept me out front. The AI in these games still has a tendency to play follow the leader too much, form a train behind a slower car. I used that to my advantage in this race.Comment

Re: F1 2016 Career Mode Progression (XB1,PS4,CPU)
Japan was an adventure to say the least. I had a massive crash turn 1 on the 1st lap both hit the wall nose 1st and got airborne, Kivyat flew accross the track, landed on the rear wing of someone causing him to do a mini wheelie. Hamilton also spun in the same turn in a separate wreck, even with damage set to sim it somehow didn't knock me out (I play with flashbacks off). I pitted and came out 21st. I had worked my way up to 13th, then on lap 10 my left front punctured, and I had to drive half a lap like that, came out of that in 18th, worked my way up to 14th when the SC came out, I used that as my last stop on lap 18, wasn't able to catch the Q, but did catch up to a few others. After the green I worked my way up to 9th, and passed 3 others as they pitted and finished 6th. That almost felt like a win. Rosberg finished 3rd and Hamilton 5th. Rosberg now leads Hamilton by 3 points, I'm in 3rd 9 points out heading into Austin.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Re: F1 2016 Career Mode Progression (XB1,PS4,CPU)
So, I had mentioned this over in the impressions thread as I didn't see this one set up. Had a blast in Spain. Started 4th, dropped as far back as 12th with strategy/stops. Took the lead with about 4 to go, but just didnt have the grip left to hold on. Rosberg got me in the second to last set of turns as I got up out of the racing line. Ended up bringing it home in 2nd.
Also, as I mentioned. I despise Monaco. I mean, I love it, its beautiful, but I absolutely hate driving it. I don't know what it is, but I struggle there like nowhere else. I'm not sure if it's the tight walls that just mess with my mind/eyes while driving or what, but I can't brake properly, I'm off line all the time, so I never have any grip. First practice... heavy rain. What a disaster. Destroyed my car pretty good... Oops. Second practice I at least got to run the practice programs, while the track was dry before the rains came again. I started turning some decent laps. Qualifying is coming up next, so we'll see how that goes. It's sector 1 that kills me there. That first turn right after the start finish line, I just cant nail it, then the second, the long left hander I always make a mess of it too. A lot of it is probably me pushing too hard, and not being comfortable enough on the tight track. In past games, it usually comes to me in time the more I run. My best laptime in practice did get me 9th though. However, I imagine once I get out there in the race with other cars on the track, I'm likely looking at a destroyed race car and a last place finish. It is what it is! I've been running well enough to take a bad finish.

I won at Austin, but what was shocking was that Hamilton finished 20th, and Rosberg 18th, and they both finished the race, and I lapped them both (Hard dif btw), so I have no clue what happened to them. Anyways, I lead the points by 16 now.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Re: F1 2016 Career Mode Progression (XB1,PS4,CPU)
Ran my Monaco race tonight. As I mentioned previously, my best practice time was good for 9th. I'm not sure what happened, but I got the pole? I'm still running 25% races. Somehow, I managed to hold the lead for the first few laps until my first pit stop. I came out in 12th. As other cars stopped, I ended up 9th, raced my way back to 6th, and just couldnt progress since I damaged the right front wing slightly. Made my life a struggle, but I managed to finish 6th. I'm happy with that. I thought it would be alot worse. I had a big backlog of cars behind me though that just couldnt, or wouldnt get by me. I should have finished much worse than I did but for some reason they wouldnt or couldnt pass me. Which would make sense, because I was all over the place. I woudlnt have wanted to be anywhere near me. lolMiami Dolphins - Detroit Red Wings - Toronto Blue Jays - Michigan Wolverines - CANADAComment

I really like this thread and I am currently 7 races into my career and had posted some progress in the other thread before this one started. I am hoping that the NASCAR game next week will be as interesting and will also inspire a thread about our careers as we move from back marker to NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion. It's finally a good time in video games to be a race fan. Keep the threads coming guys. Love it.

Re: F1 2016 Career Mode Progression (XB1,PS4,CPU)
I'm two races into my career and am having a wonderful time.
At Melbourne I qualified last and had a really tough race. The track was very enjoyable, but I struggled with it. Someone had a mechanical issue and I wrecked Vettel to take him out of the race. Ended up finishing 20th.
Next up was Bahrain, and I absolutely loved this track! I ended up qualifying 6th, which was nice to see after qualifying in last the week before. On race day, I worked my way up to 2nd and was battling Hamilton for a few laps. I ended up getting spun out by Kimi at some point and fell back to 14th. I had already had a pit stop and didn't plan on having another, so it was all about hunting guys down at that point. I slowly worked my way back up the field and ended up finishing in the 6th spot that I qualified in. Great race; it felt nice to recover from the collision somewhat. I had the fastest lap time of the race, which was also nice.
I'm running at 25% and that's fine for me. Good enough race length where a lot can happen, but I can stay focused the entire time.Comment
