9/16/16 - Danny Ainge has shocked the NBA world with a sudden announcement that he has decided to retire as GM of the Celtics. He will remain on in a special adviser role. He will also help Wyc Grousbeck in the search for a new GM.

9/17/16 - Shockingly Grousbeck & Ainge have quickly named their new GM and it is someone that is relatively unknown by many in the NBA. Jeremy M will be taking over this great franchise, but will remain under the tutelage of Ainge while he learns the ropes.

Boston hopes they have a great future ahead with a young GM handling the roster decisions and one of hottest, young coaches, Brad Stevens, managing the X's and O's. Only the future will tell if this bold decision pays off or back fires in their face.

          Offseason Recap

Boston had a really interesting offeason in what turned out Danny Ainge's last hurrah. The big news was signing top free agent Al Horford and drafting Jaylen Brown with the 3rd pick in the draft.

Another big story was "what might have been" as the rumor mill was working overtime both before the draft and during the peak of the offseason with names like Jimmy Butler, Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor all rumored to be headed to Beantown at one time or another. All of fire that was warning up with those rumors turned out to be nothing but smoke. However, with Danny still overseeing things don't be surprised if he and Jeremy M reach out to other teams early and often this season.

Key Additions - Al Horford, Jaylen Brown and Gerald Green

Key Losses - Evan Turner, Jared Sullinger

          Projected Depth Chart
          (mins)

          PG - Thomas (33), Smart (22), Rozier
SG - Bradley (32), Green (12), Young, Hunter
          SF - Crowder (31), Brown (14)
          PF - Johnson (28), Jerebko (15), Mickey
          C - Horford (33), Olynyk (20), Zeller
          X factor - Crowder

The high-energy, defensive-minded 26-year-old was one of the NBA's most improved players last season, posting career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, field goal percentage, three-point percentage and minutes. He's not be the biggest star in Boston, but with his do-it-all capabilities, he might just be the team's most important asset.

Following. Eager to see how Big Al (Go Gators!) does in Beantown. I'm happy to see him finally land on a team that's got a chance to win it all ... he deserves a title. Dude's underrated.

Also looking forward to seeing how you develop Marcus Smart.

                  HAHA.

But for real, don't sign Hayward. Had Boston do that in my Sonics ML and it didn't help them at all. I feel like he's a Chandler Parsons 2.0 waiting to happen ... athletic white dude who can pass, score, and play decent defense who gets overrated and then falls back to earth as soon as he signs his new deal.

For real though, I hope the Jazz overpay him to stay. It'd suck to lose him for nothing, considering he is a great and unique talent in the league. He's still pretty young, too.

I think the only place he can succeed at his best is with the Jazz. That was Parsons' mistake -- the Rockets were the best place for him, but he left for the Mavs and never lived up to his contract. Hayward's a unique talent that I can only see succeeding with the Jazz.

If he goes anywhere else, I don't think he'll reach his full potential and I definitely don't think he'll live up to the contract.

I'd love to reunite Hayward and Stevens, but I think I'm going to have to pass due to Hayward's fun noodle arms. Maybe I'll change my mind if they update the player models via patch.

Re: (Champion) 'Shipping Up To Boston'

News out of Boston's Training Camp this week has Brad Stevens working on two unconventional lineups.

The first is a Golden State type "Death Lineup". Although, Horford is obviously a Center, so they're certainly not that similar.

                          PG - Thomas
                          SG - Bradley
                          SF - Smart
                          PF - Crowder
                          C - Horford

and the second is a "Big" lineup with a focus on defense and rebounding.

                          PG - Bradley
                          SG - Brown
                          SF - Crowder
                          PF - Johnson
                          C - Horford

I like the death lineup, but I think big is the way to go -- it's more traditional and, for you bench, leaves you to work in Thomas and Smart, two players who I think would thrive in a Manu-like role as a sixth man/co-starter for a squad with championship aspirations.

Yeah, that makes sense. And with 2K17's ability to do minute-by-minute rotations, you could line things up so you get the death lineup for the last 8 minutes of the 4th.
