2.) Controls feel much better this year, players don't feel as stiff as they did in previous 2ks, the movement is more fluid.
3.) the pace of the game, its feels faster than last year, it feels like I'm playing with athletes.
4.) fouling animations look more realistic, every foul does not look like a violent collision.

Negatives

1.) the CPU you're going up against still react way to fast to loose balls, deflections, etc but it doesn't seem like it is bad as it was in 2k16.
2.) the bad transition defense stated by previous posters. Sometimes the opposing team's center runs free to the basket without anyone on your team running back.
That last one was the game breaker for me last year. I actually gave up and never finished a season of my franchise, which is something that has NEVER occurred since I started playing 2k5 (and before that various versions of Live going back to the PC in the mid 80s).

Sounds like they did what I feared: Put in shiny baubles for the casuals to want to play (dream team, Kobe stuff, expansion teams, etc.) and didn't improve defense, transition D, bigs running under the basket or picking up a ballhandler for no reason while there man runs to the basket, and in MyLeague contracts.

Sad. Unless I see some different feedback or info after patches, this may be the first year I don't buy 2k in years. Might go for Fifa, Madden or Hockey instead.
