Re: Green means Mean! New York Jets - Coach Mode M17
I don't care if you forget the play or don't know what you're doing out there get into what you feel like getting but I want you to rush the quarterback. Understand me? Rush. the. Quarterback!
..the words echo in my mind. A crushing, defeaning sound.. My favorite player of all-time is the LB Lawrence Taylor. Not because of his dominance.. but because he played with abandon. The field was his and he played like he was in the mean streets of NYC.
There's very few people these days who have an aggression that he did.. the NFL these days is cotton candy compared to the players back then. Some say Ray Lewis but he talked alot. He was a showman.. he'd prop himself and didn't really have that "Edge", that "meanness" in his play..
watching the NFL there was only 1 other player I can recall that was similar to LT.. his name? well.. watch this video:
SO, first let me say welcome to my franchise!I normally don't play using my favorite real life team but I'm not too enamored with this year's group (aka I'm blowing it up!) I LOVE the Team Building aspect and I love the strategizing during gameday so I'll be playing coach mode. I will be simming the first season to get a headstart on the NFL Draft
My Favorite Player: Lawrence Taylor
My favorite Quarterback: Joe Montana
My favorite Coach: Bill Parcells
I am pretty much a disciple of the Tuna. I believe in the foundations upon which the NFL was built on. A solid Defense. Run the ball. Don't turn it over.
I want to have fun with my franchises.. even if my team overall doesn't succeed.. I enjoy watching the team I built play specially if I get key pieces such as a Power RB, an OLB Terror, etc.. win, lose, stumble or fall.. this franchise will document everything every step of the way!
My mission: Draft a Lawrence Taylor - Greg Lloyd type MEAN Outside LBcomplement him with a powerful RB and take it from there..

Thanksnot gon lie been a while since I did a franchise but it feels good.. can't wait to see how things unfold and document it
last I believe was back in 2013? But life changes and really haven't felt the need to start one again since then but this year's madden may be the last version for the ps3 (I haven't even gotten a ps4 yet)Comment

Re: Green means Mean! New York Jets - Coach Mode M17
So it begins..
As always with all of my franchises.. I sim the first year to get a headstart on the Draft and Team Building Aspects..
I'm not expecting much from the 75 OVR JETS and my draft position should be decent. As per re-signing players.. there's not much I'll probably keep from the current roster so I'll definitely be a player in Free Agency as well
can't wait to see the storylines that unfold throughout the season and see how things unfold!! Praying to scout a maniac LBfrom this point on, I'll only post updates during weeks there's Draft Storylines playing out

Re: Green means Mean! New York Jets - Coach Mode M17
WEEK 3:
I *really* like this draft storyline.. a DT who used to play rugby.. sounds like my kinda physical terror!!
too bad DT is not on my list of positions to fill
Week 5:
This has got to be a joke.. it has to be.. a Power RB is always a foundation piece for my teams but this guy.. a FB.. running for 300+yds.. I don't know what to make of it. I really don't..
FB's don't really translate well to the HB position..

Week 6
6 weeks into the season and so far the draft storylines haven't been playing out to my interests.. was hoping there'd be a monster LB or a crazy RB.. at the rate my season is going I'm definitely going to get a high draft pick which in itself is a great thing
DE M. Wilkerson is a cornerstone for my franchise.. he's a stud on the line and I decided to re-sign him mid-season and secure him for the long haulI definitely won't have to worry about a DE for some time to come!
With my coaching and investments training him.. he will definitely become even more of a monster on the line. Plus he's got that attitude I desire.. that mean streak.. he's a baaaad man!

Week 15
Not gonna lie.. I had this guy scouted. He is a physical freak.. his Consistency however, is way down.. this draft storyline makes me sad because I have him as my #1 Power RB prospect.. now? I am not so sure if I should pick a RB since I also need a QB franchise pick.. hmm, decisions decisions..
END OF SEASON M V P
what needs to be said about QB Aaron Rodgers? He's simply that good.. definitely a HOF'er
PLAYOFFS
Wildcard Weekend
Divisional Round
Conference Championships
SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS: New England Patriots (boo hiss boo!)Comment

End of Season: Retirees
This is bittersweet.. I *hate* Brady.. I do.. but respect him enough cuz he's a winner. This retirement blindsided me.. as I'm establishing my team.. it would've been nice to go head to head against the Tom Brady led Patriots but it wasn't meant to be..
TE Jason Witten and TE Antonio Gates have been 2 of the best TE's this league has ever seen. Definitely the safety nets for their QB's. Glues for mitts and throwback reliable.. Definitely going to miss having these 2 in the league.
RB Adrian Peterson.. not sure why he retired. Didn't even know he was of retirement age.. but it is what it is. Definitely one of the best RB's in the league and I wonder if it's father time or if he's just tired of the daily grind of the game.. hmm

Re: Green means Mean! New York Jets - Coach Mode M17
This past season was abysmal. The foundations of this game, the Offensive Line was exactly that -- offensive! I was very conscious re-signing players and made sure I had enough funds to be a player in the upcoming Free Agency and play I did!!
He was the top-rated Free Agent and plenty of teams had bidded for him.. I threw him the most I could a $17mil 4 year contract with nearly $8mil signing bonus and sure enough.. I have solidified my RG for years to come!
most people simply think the draft is the end-all be-all but really, free agency is a tool to build one's team! definitely worthy to fish in the free agent market provided one's finances can cover it of course.. NY Jets fans are certainly happy
My next target was another free agent lineman.. he's decent and should give me ample time to draft linemen of my own in the upcoming years to take over
The next 2 signee's are just insurance players.. 1 year contracts which will help my team no matter what! They may not start but can definitely help in the rotation
