You guys seem to be rolling. The USC game was much closer than expected I must say - you guys are certainly playing better than the ratings suggest.

Congrats on that first shutout. Those have been difficult for me. I think I have literally two shutouts through 13 seasons.

Thanks for the comment. We definitely gave USC a run for their money, but we couldn't pull it out, unfortunately.

About the shutout, I'm glad we got it too! It was probably due to the fact that UAB's ratings were in the 52-55 range, though.

            Recruiting Rules:

Starting next season, the following house rules for recruiting will be implemented.

-can only recruit from states within a 300 mile radius of campus
-can only recruit 1 star above current team prestige, and can only recruit 3 players of that prestige (for example, if I'm a three star school, I can only get a maximum of three four stars
-I cannot add any recruit above two stars after week 3 of the season
-cannot scout players until after they are signed, and if they are busts I cannot cut them unless they are both buried on the depth chart and we have considerable depth at their position
-not really recruiting, but I'm also going to steal/borrow Hellisan's work ethic idea from his dynasty, because I think it gives more realistic progression

Nice job on the shutout. It took me years to get one, and here is UTSA getting one early in your career

Yeah, it was nice to get one so early! Unfortunately, it probably won't happen again unless we get lucky or play UAB, because their ratings are so low! It was a nice game though, especially on offense.

ROADRUNNERS BEAT HURRICANES; RISE TO 4-1 IN CONFERENCE

The UTSA Roadrunners traveled to Tulsa to take on the 1-7 Golden Hurricanes. The Hurricanes, despite having lost their starting quarterback to injury, put up a good fight against UTSA.

In the first quarter, the only scoring was done by Tulsa's kicker, Preston Soper, who knocked through two field goals to give Tulsa a 6-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, however, UTSA's defense heated up, scoring two touchdowns. The defense also forced a safety. Tulsa, again, got two field goals in this quarter. The score heading into the half was 16-12 UTSA.

Both teams scored a touchdown in the third quarter, one on a Jaylon Henderson touchdown run for UTSA, and one by Zach Langer for Tulsa. The score was 23-19 headed into the fourth.

Finally, in the fourth quarter, UTSA pulled away from Tulsa by scoring 10 points and holding Tulsa to zero.

The final score was 33-19 UTSA, and they performed well on offense after a slow start. Tulsa also played well, but without their starting QB, they would have had to play almost perfectly.

Next week, the Roadrunners return home to the Alamodome to face off against the 5-4(2-3) Tulane Green Wave, who are coming off a loss to the Florida Atlantic Owls. Go Roadrunners!

This week, we'll start off with BCS Number 1, the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes are currently undefeated at 9-0(5-0), and they are certainly playing up to their potential (99 ovr, 99 offense, 97 defense). They beat Purdue 38-7 last week in the Horseshoe. Their remaining schedule goes:

                      @ Illinois
                      vs Indiana
                      @ Michigan

Two of those teams (Illinois and Michigan) have winning records. The combined record of the three teams is 12-12, with Indiana dragging that down with a 1-7 record. All three of those teams are certainly solid, and the fact that the Buckeyes play @ both teams with an above .500 record, and both of those teams, especially Michigan, have a good chance to pull the upset.

BCS Chances: 50-75%, but will have to avoid upsets

Next up, is BCS Number Two, the Michigan State Spartans. Last week, they beat Michigan in the Big House 28-24. They are also undefeated, at 9-0(5-0), and seem to be playing better than expected (90 ovr, 93 offense, 87 defense) and the schedule thus far has not been easy. They beat struggling Notre Dame and Iowa teams. They also beat Illinois on the road. Their remaining schedule is as follows:

                      @ Nebraska
                      @ Northwestern
                      vs Minnesota

These three teams have a 18-8 combined record, and Nebraska was ranked as recently as last week, before being beaten by Northwestern. As you can see, this schedule could be tough to get through, with three solid teams looking for a big upset.

BCS Chances: 50/50, as all three teams are good and hungry for the upset

Third on the list is BCS Number Three, the Arizona State Sun Devils. They have been one of the big surprises this year, compiling an 8-0(5-0) record. They beat the Cougars of Washington State last week, 35-17. They beat #15 USC already this year, but have four ranked teams remaining on the schedule:

                      @ #20 Utah
                      vs Oregon State
                      @ #18 UCLA
                      vs. #12 Arizona

These teams have a combined record of 22-11, and with three ranked teams on tap for the rest of the year, this could get bad.

BCS Chances: maybe 25-50%, as they have one of the toughest remaining schedules and will need Ohio State's talent to get through it, which they don't have.

At BCS Number Four on the list is the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. They are 9-0(7-0), but are starting to reach the end of their rope. They needed OT to beat a .500 Pitt team, but have dominated ranked teams and struggled against mediocre teams. Their remaining schedule is pretty difficult:

                      @ #8 Clemson
                      vs FCS SE
                      vs #19 Georgia

Their schedule is pretty difficult, as they have to go into Death Valley to face Clemson, and face one of their archrivals in Georgia. The two teams have a combined 13-4 record. They do have basically a guaranteed FCS win, but their chances of winning out are slim.

BCS Chances: 25-50%, given that they also have a tough schedule and do not have the talent to get through it clean.

Finally, we have the BCS Number 5 Florida State, who are the second ACC team in the Top 5. They possess a record of 7-1(5-1), but also have a decently tough schedule upcoming, with a ranked opponent on the docket:

                      @ Wake Forest
                      vs Syracuse
                      vs Idaho
                      @ #23 Florida

Their schedule upcoming gives them four opponents with a combined 14-20 record, but three of these four teams (I'll let you guess who the odd one out is) could be tough games, with Wake on the road and the other two with winning records.

BCS Chances: 5-25% , given a tough schedule and one loss.

On to this week's top three Heisman contenders, according to the Vegas Oddsmakers.

#1- Larry Scott of Michigan State, who has almost 2000 YARDS RUSHING with three games left. He has 1915 yards to be exact, but this is a HISTORIC season. He is averaging 5.3 yards per carry, and 14 touchdowns on the season. Barring any other record breaking performances, he has a lock on the Heisman.

#2- Ezekiel Elliot of Ohio State currently has 968 yards rushing, with a 6.3 average and 13 touchdowns. No chance unless he has 3 straight 300 yards games.

#3- Justin Thomas of Georgia Tech has only 1266 yards passing and 8 td-4 int. However, he has 705 yards on the ground and 13 touchdowns. Again, almost no chance.

The Games of the Week this week are

                      #11 Oklahoma @ #8 Baylor
                      #9 Arkansas @ #17 Ole Miss
                      #3 Arizona St @ #22 Utah
                      #16 UCLA @ #13 Arizona

That's all for this week, but come next week we should have pretty interesting polls!

Thanks! It'll probably be every two weeks or so. It actually wasn't too difficult to put together, just a bit of writing. I think it took an hour or so.

As SilverBullet stated I love the "Road to Pasadena" feature. I've always thought about adding something like that to mine. It has added more depth IMO to your dynasty. Thanks as well! I thought the title kind of set it apart as opposed to just "Around the Nation." I was also planning to change that depending on where the national championship is held. So, one year, it'll be "Road to New Orleans."
