    CFM CPU GM Logic

I'm in season 2 of my CFM as a player (RB) with the Bears.

    - Year 1 ended with a division title (beating MIN for the crown in wk17) and a Wild Card loss to the (eventual SB champ) Cowboys
    - Jay Cutler, as expected, was less than reliable

Year 2 the CPU GM proceeded as followed:
    - Signed Brock Osweiler
    - Signed Colin Kaepernick
    - Preseason wk1 traded for Sam Bradford (signed a new 4-yr contract after the regular season started)

I am now in week 2 of the regular season and we have 4 (currently starting) QBs on the roster accounting for over $38M of our total salary.

Anyone else have any similar stories?

Yeah, the logic is a bit sloppy in certain regards. At other positions it's not as bad loading up on talent, but as QBs are expensive and really you only need "the guy" between $5 and $20mil and "the other guy" between $2 and $5mil per season, then it's much more noticeable when teams CPU stack QBs.

It comes about as the CPU is incapable of assessing talent and withdrawing a stupid offer. So they would have signed Kap and Brock at the same time, instead of picking between the two. The CPU does the same now with drafting, especially since the nerfed draft classes. It picks a QB round 1, instead of thinking "lets see what this guy is made of" it goes, eugh, poor OVR, lets draft a QB in round 2 as the previous low OVR makes QB still register as a "need".

If you have a created player, you can't log into the bears as a coach and cut Kap or Brock and then in "users" click "clear cap penalties" but you can for other teams. Then if it was a really big contract, the cap penalties will likely carry over to the next season, so clear cap penalties again.

This happens when the CPU tries to "fill a need" by offering contracts to multiple available guys at a certain position in the off season (if they have the cap room to have multiple offers on the table). Then as the week advances, if offers are accepted from 2 QB's, boom the CPU now has this issue for 2-4 years. It's because the offers are accepted simultaneously in the games "sim to next week" engine.

It also happens in the draft, for exactly what geodude mentioned.

It's been this way for years too. The massive cap chunk that can go to two players in one position can cripple CPU teams for several franchise seasons. Especially smaller market teams where money is tight.

On topic: it is inconvenient to do, but if you are in an offline franchise you can fix it by creating a new user and then retiring after fixing it.

I've seen the Saints draft not 1, not 2, but 3 quarterbacks in the first 2 rounds of the draft. two with first round picks, the other with a second round pick.
