I won both races at Bristol in my first season of career, and I won one of the Martinsville races. I found those two tracks easy to win on, because the AI can't just magically start running 2-3 seconds faster than you, which I assume is due to the traffic on the short tracks preventing them from it.

It's down to $26 for the PS Sale. Is it worth that you think?

If you can deal with the well documented negatives here and still have fun with a game that can provide a good racing experience in it's bare bones way, then, yes.

I wouldn't be as disappointed in it if it was originally priced at that.

Got it for Xmas. It's a "3-3.5 star title" IMO. Bare bones in presentation and the menus are pretty simple. Graphics are a bit of an "artist interpretation" though they're not that bad.

Unlocked everything within about 8 hrs of gameplay. Trick seemed to be use normal physics and do 13% races on the bigger tracks to build up speed points.

Wish there was a bit more of a happy median between normal and sim physics or at least personalization for auto brakes, etc. Found Sonoma to be WAY too easy on normal since it seemed like the ai braked for me so I switched to sim and it was tough.

Wish there was a mid weekend and/or mid race save feature. Kind of tedious if you want a regulation weekend to do full practice and qualify and then run a longer or full race.

I do like that the game is well suited to a game pad.

At first I could charge my way to the front effortlessly but now that I have higher ratings at the biggest speedways it is a bit harder.

I recommend this game at this point if you're someone that isn't into flashy presentations and you like solid console racing.

I did spend some money on upgrades, they are pricey going to finish out the season and see how much i have at the end and go from there.

Bristol was excellent. I qualified 16th and I was running 4th for most of the race. With 25 laps left there was a caution and I had to pit because my tires were bad , my car was not gripping at all. At the restart cars were blowing by me like I was standing still, dropped back to 12th and finished up in 8th. So far I'm liking it, I think after a season or so when I have enough cash to really fix up my car it will get better as I'll be more competitive. We shall see.

The only things that really bother me at this point are the Spotter, man I wish I could shut him up, should be an option to turn him off, and I would also like to be able to turn the names over the cars off, takes away from any realism. I know who they are...lol

Does anyone play with friends or online ?

I only use my XB1 for Halo 5 with co workers and friends, but our group is trying to find a decent racing game to play and someone jokingly said NASCAR Heat and it turned into an actual interest in playing it.

I'm just wondering if the online experience has changed any since some earlier impressions and if it's stable.

I'd recommend Project Cars to play with friends online, it's got nice tracks and tons of different types of cars. I believe it's on sale on the X1 as well.

Since the season is coming up on us quickly, I decided to finally dig into career mode. My plan is to run short races (4%) to get through the first couple seasons when my team is bad and then adjust the race length and AI difficulty once I'm on par. So far, 16 races in first season I'm 22nd in points with a win. Trying to get my team really good so I can follow along with the real season here in 6 weeks or so. I'll find myself more likely to play if I'm not running back of the pack all the time.

I'm pretty sure there are no custom lobbies for this game, so I don't think you'd even be able to start up a friends-only league unless you all agree to a time when the servers are empty (which could be anytime for all I know).

I picked it up during the Steam Winter Sale for PC of course. It's a step up from the horrid NASCAR 14 and 15. The AI provides an enjoyable race, but it's really bare bones. I hope next year we at least have the ability to look left and right. It's ridiculous that a racing game doesn't have that ability. I also want to be able to customize the FOV settings. This is must for triple screens or ultrawide monitors. All in all, pleased with what I paid for it and hopeful for the future.

I'm not a NASCAR fan and do not want to actually control a car around the track. Can you create a driver/car and let the CPU drive the car around the track? I'd just like to watch a couple big races with a created classic driver/car. Thanks

No, you cannot do that. There is no 'spectator' mode nor is there a create-a-car feature in this game.

If you have a decent PC, I'd try Motorsports Manager for that. You pick a team and then manage the races. It's really good and sounds like you might enjoy it.

Question: Did DMi do some major tweaking to Sim physics? I pretty much gave up on Sim after the first couple of days, but I went back and played some last night and it wasn't nearly as awful as I'd remembered. With no practice or training, I could actual trade paint and scrape the walls without spinning out, even the braking seemed less twitchy. It was actually... *gasp*... enjoyable. This breathes a bit of fresh air into the game as I was missing out on custom setups, which could at least extend the life of the game a bit.

So, did DMi actual overhaul their Sim physics or do I just suck less?
