XBox 1 Owners - Is Your Game Starting Correctly?

Or are you having to do the "Reserved Space" trick or some other trick to get the game to load properly?

Trying to work out if this has been happening to everyone or only a vocal minority.

Anyone on xbox one who has NOT yet had this problem at all?

For me it freezes when the video starts with Chris Paul, just about every other day and I have to clear the space. My friends have it get stuck forever at the team screen.

This is what 2K sent me regarding this issue.

      Hello there Mike,

Thank you for contacting 2K Support. We are always happy to assist!

I am sorry to hear that you appear to be stuck on the loading screen when trying to load NBA 2K17.

Before we go any further, please allow me to inform you that it is normal for your game to be taking a long time to load if you have just re-installed or if its been quite awhile since the last time you launched the game. It might be due to the game still downloading and applying updates before giving you full access, or simply because all of the content is not currently properly installed and needs to be reconfigured. Let me reassure you that the game is not frozen, it is simply taking an extended period of time to load features. The time usually increases as the game's life cycle continues and additional content is added. I would also like to mention that the amount of time it takes to load will vary and also depends on the quality of your internet connection. To verify what the speed and quality of your internet service is you can visit http://www.speedtest.net/ on either a PC or mobile device connected to your WiFi.

In the meantime I would suggest launching the game, letting it load and either leave it idle (not touching anything) while it updates or put your console in sleep mode. When the game is finished loading it should bring you to the main menu automatically.

Additionally, you may notice a slight improvement in your loading if you connect your console to your Internet router directly via Ethernet (if possible of course).

Let me know if it works!

Also, please note that contrarily to what you may have read online or what other community members may have mentioned, do NOT clear your Reserved Space as it may actually worsen the issue or cause additional unforeseen issues to your game and content which we outlined in this Knowledge Base article: http://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/234764408

If you have further questions, feel free to ask!

      Sincerely,

      Vanessa Q.

I experienced this issue once, and haven't experienced it again luckily..

I think I'm chalking it up to having my Xbox power state to "always on", the power mode where you can say "Xbox On" and it will turn on. So basically it is always in a sleep mode and never fully off.

I may be in the minority but I only play one video game at a time, so when I'm done playing NBA 2k17 I don't close the application. I simply turn the xbox off (really sleep mode) and next time I want to play I start the game and automatically am at the main menu, and the game just wants me to reconnect to the servers which takes about 5 seconds.

I just got a Xbox One 2 weeks ago, and it constantly froze up the first day at the team logo screen. Luckily, my wife had me doing something, and when I got back, it was playing fine.

Nope me and 12 of my other friends are having to constantly do the clear reserved space trick to get the game to get past the NBA logo Screen so its not a minority. They need to fix this bug.

It was rough for a while, but mine has been starting up correctly for about 3 weeks now (knock on wood).

Yeah you are lucky because by only playing one game at a time and using Instant On you are basically never quitting out of 2K really. Unless you manually bought up the menu and quit from the xbox one home screen. Not really realistic for most players to just stick to playing 2K though haha

Re: XBox 1 Owners - Is Your Game Starting Correctly?

It's been like this for a month now (since the last December update). There's a few threads on here about it. I have to wait upwards of 30 minutes for it to work. It's a bug that makes the game unplayable and that response 2k gave is pure BS. I'm positive other games have to load, connect to servers, etc and they all work fine. But you're telling me NBA 2k is the only game that has to take time? Nonsense. This is a screw up on their end and so far, they won't fix it despite this affecting a huge portion of their customer base. It's a joke.

Re: XBox 1 Owners - Is Your Game Starting Correctly?

It freezes on the team logo screen literally every time I start the game. Without fail. It is incredibly annoying and can actually prevent me from playing the game entirely because I don't have time to sit there and wait 30+ minutes for the game to load. Clearing reserve space is a dicey fix because it can, as documented, cause other problems like re-writing files and leaving saves in limbo.

LOL @ 2K blaming peoples' internet connections. My internet is very good- it is not at all related to this. I really wish there was a legitimate solution for this as it really does hamper attempting to play the game. It's kind of ridiculous honestly.

Any time there is a game update I get stuck on the logos screen for 5-10 mins.

Clearing the reserved space trick can get past it but since it has to re-download a bunch of data it doesn't save any time.

2kfail for over a month now.

I've had a ticket open on this for almost a month. I have performed all their speed test, ping test, tracer test, etc. This was the latest I received this am...

So there you have it, coming from someone who plays the game every day. I log in every morning to work AH in MyTeam. Then I play games at night. I'd really like an honest answer from 2K as to why they feel it's "normal" for their game to load up for HOURS on boot up. I also didn't appreciate the dig about the quality of my internet connection. I live in a major city, have ZERO problems with all my other online games, and stream all our tv/ video without issue.
I don't think they are sincere when they say the "fully understand my frustration".

Hahaha Wow... That is some unprecedented level of spin right there... "Normal".. hah..
This has to be one of the most frustrating things the way they are handling this.. Its obvious it is a bug that was introduced at some time after a patch as it never used to happen, so why the hell they wont say that and undo whatever it is I do not know..

So, here is the latest. This is from follow up on Friday night...

                              __________________________________________________ ____________

Thanks for providing the required information!

It appears that something is interfering when you are trying to connect to our servers. It is quite complicated to explain, but to put it simply: Your MAC or IP addresses have been flagged by our security systems as hazardous and thus has been blocked from connecting to our servers. You will need to contact your internet service provider in order for them to assist you in changing your MAC and IP addresses, as we are a game support company. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for
being cooperative throughout all this process.

I sincerely hope that the issue will be resolved in the near future!

If you ever come across any additional issues, let me know and I will be glad to answer them!

                              Best regards from the court!!!
                              __________________________________________________ ____________

So in case you were all wondering, It's complicated and the fault is all on your end. So every single person on Xbox that is experiencing this has EITHER a flagged Mac or IP address. Be sure to contact your ISP because the fault is on their end.

Also understand that this doesn't happen everyday and is somewhat intermittent. So if my Mac or IP was flagged, than shouldn't that prevent me from having a connection on a consistent basis?

If you haven't figured it out, they don't care. They copy and paste the same excuse into each of our messages.
