Re: MLB The Show 17 Patch 1.05 Available Now, Patch Notes Included
We have a double edged sword here, so to speak, as I love the fact that we finally have catchers that are not spider monkeys, and can't pounce on balls in turbo-charged fashion.
In fact, I won't even complain about the amount of balls in the dirt, as last night, I watched the real Red Sox game, and saw passed balls tie up, and bring in the go ahead run, and one of them was a guy who scored from second on the passed ball.
Believe me, the first MLB The Show runner who scored from second base on a passed ball would bring out all the pitchforks and ropes to the lynching..
My only wish, and my only suggestion would be to break the branch of the animation off earlier, so that the user input would have some bearing on the throw to the base.
I play with manual fielding, and Pure Analog throwing, and there is definitely some input with regards to accuracy. I've had my catcher launch a throw into left field trying to catch a runner advancing to third, so that part of it works, but there is absolutely zero input with the strength of the throw, as they are always the same.
So, in conclusion to this particular matter, I would keep everything the way it is, and be more careful about my low-pitch selections, if I could be allowed to fire the throw to the base of my choosing, with my input recorded as such.
