Flazko's Madden 18 Sliders and Settings

    FLAZKO'S NFL MADDEN 18 SLIDERS & SETTINGS

Welcome to Flazko's Madden 18 Sliders & Settings Thread. I'm back again with a slider set and settings I hope will give you authentic NFL simulation style gameplay! This year I plan to make the game as realistic and challenging as I can. All sliders and settings are what I use and / or prefer in order to get true simulation gameplay. Each setting and slider is essential in making sure you see the exact same results I see so please use everything as listed. After giving everything a whirl, you may adjust any slider or setting to your preferences. You are more than welcome to join the thread in healthy Madden conversations! Let's make Madden 18 a great year of simulation football!!

    IMPORTANT! (PLEASE READ BELOW!)

    - Like many other threads on Operation Sports, Any comments along the lines of "It's too easy", "it's too hard", "these sliders suck" will be ignored. Advice will only be given to those with legitimate issues. Please provide proof via picture or video of issues. Broad complaints will be ignored. Use my sliders as is or as a base to tune gameplay to your liking. Sliders are never perfect for everyone. It's your responsibility to adjust any slider to best fit what you would like to see.

    - Absolutely NO bullying / inappropriate conversations / trolling. It will not be tolerated. You will be ignored and reported to an admin!

    - The game plays as realistic as you make it. Be fair to the cpu. Play competitively but do not use cheese plays or glitches /exploits.

    - Input Sliders in Main Menu, then import in Connected Franchise.

    - All sliders and settings are the same in Main Menu as in Connected Franchise unless specified.

    Penalties

Penalties are a huge part of the game, they at times negate a big play / score or give a team a lucky break and a fresh set of downs. These are designed to best replicate the likelihood of penalties that are called in "Real Life" games. Some Penalties listed have a specific value in CFM.

Re: Flazko's Madden 18 Sliders and Settings

    I'm back... Well Sort of....

This year I intend to stick with Default All-Pro sliders while using the new Simulation Game style setting. This thread is entirely to share my personally settings and sliders for those who are curious. I don't intended in messing with the actual sliders this year, I really would like to enjoy the game for what it's worth and get through full franchise seasons. Creating slider sets is such hard work and very time consuming. The sad reality is that Madden well never play "perfect" realistic football, it's just not possible... yet anyways ... Due to actual programming of the game. Of course, many of us on Operation Sports love the challenge of trying to tune the game as best as we can to help make a fun and realistic experience for the community. That said, I have done so much work over the years and it's become exhausting, it's taken away time from actually enjoying the game. I personally would love to enjoy this year of Madden football and not be so picky. Yes there are going to be a bit of BS things that occur. At the end of the day It is a video game.

At the end of Madden 17's life cycle I did see some great things from default All-Pro sliders. This made me investigate a little more online and on YouTube about what exactly the Devs recommend for the best Simulation experience. I chatted with people I feel are reliable sources and viewed videos of different people's breakdown film studies and videos of people sharing their opinions. We all just want ratings to matter and see some of the things that happen in real life! The most frustrating part about making a slider set is that it can totally change in a week, EA releases new updates and tuners that throw off the whole set consistently. The second you figure out an issue, an update / tuner comes along to ruin your progression. This forces most of us to continuously restart our Connected Franchise over and over and over again... I just don't want to go through that cycle this year.

I've seen many guys in the community see great results from default sliders. Some may think All-Pro is "too easy", that may be true, but I'm not looking for what's easy or hard, I'm looking for what's fun and most realistic as possible. I'm looking for what gives me the best simulation experience.. All-Madden is just unfair and gives a crazy boost to the cpu so I don't intend on using it this year. I've been an All-Pro fan for years and now there's a Simulation style setting that I've personally been begging for. I'm excited for this year of Madden.

I realized my quest for perfection is unrealistic, but that won't stop me from possibly experimenting this year. I truly intend to stick it out with default All-Pro settings as I think that's what the Devs recommend. It's where they do their tuning and suggest it gives the best results .... BUT ... if I do feel default settings aren't cutting it for me and I'm to the point where I'm not enjoying my money spent on this game.... I will start tweaking sliders and going back to the "lab"... Lets hope I don't have to go there (which many of you are probably hoping it goes there lol). For the most part, don't expect drastic changes to settings and sliders. I would like to stay as default as I can.. This thread is mostly just to share what settings and sliders I use but I will adjust any slider I feel needs adjusting. I can't say I will never tweak any slider this year so please don't quote me on that... let's just see what happens.

I hope most of you return to my thread from last year. We had some great personalities and some great communication going on. This season I will not tolerate any bullying or inappropriate chatter. Let's keep this thread friendly..

Do the devs ever consider coach mode/cpu vs. cpu when tuning the default slider settings?

I do not have a definitive answer for you my friend. If you have a Twitter, I encourage you to ask one of the Devs, they usually respond to most people.

Your thread is my go to. I love your take on Madden. I do have a question- is there a patch dropping on Friday?

Appreciate it and I did hear a rumor there will be a patch Friday, exactly why I'm waiting. They wanted to wait until everyone got their copy of the game.

Re: Flazko's Madden 18 Sliders and Settings

Well guys I don't think we'll be looking to step up from all-pro to all-madden anytime soon. I've played 4 games so far. The first 3 I couldn't stop anyone, giving up 2 games of nearly 400 passing games yards and another with a 74 yard run on the very first play. I managed to go 2-1 in all nail biter games including one overtime after I got iced on a game winning field goal.

The third game was an absolute slugfest, 19-21 victory. Lots of stuffs on third and short and about 8 sacks combined.

Expect to play more coverage. I think they want you to with what I call the "arms length" guidance line. Otherwise the CPU qbs will carve you up. And you can still rack up offensive numbers but be wary of INTs. I've got 7 so far.

Can't wait to have more feedback from you guys and of course Flazko's input!

Re: Flazko's Madden 18 Sliders and Settings

So far, All-Pro seems much better this year. Player movement looks a bit better, frostbite engine looks great, I've seen better line play (interactions), coverage seems ok, I can't really tell too much difference yet, idk if I'm rusty or what but moving the ball is pretty challenging so far. I'm gonna test it out today and see where we're at. A patch is supposed to be released tomorrow morning. I will also post sliders and settings tomorrow morning at 9am mountain time. I really have a good feeling about Default All-Pro Simulation this season. Let's just see what the first patch does. This will influence any adjustments I plan to make. I really don't plan on getting too far away from default this year but I'm sure Auto Subs weren't messed with, CFM XP Sliders weren't messed with, penalties weren't messed with and to be honest, I don't believe too much of actual gameplay was messed with. They may have just tuned a few elements of play, so it is possible a bit of things that worked in last year's game might work this year. I will test it out. I really just plan on looking for decent to good interactions between OL vs DL and WR vs CB, errant passes, rotations / substitutions, and lastly, less shifting and sliding if I don't have to adjust too many sliders to get the animations right. I prefer to have good gameplay instead of good animations but of course I will try and see if I can possibly have both.

Thanks for sharing. I've seen a few issues, I can get passed them but I'm trying to not nitpick and be patient this year. I've seen players in man to man coverage blow that coverage and get lost, I've also seen WRs running up field on bubble screens instead of running behind their blockers. On the coverage issue, it's like the CB gets burned, he runs to cover no one. The animation looks like if he bit on a play action without there actually being play action and then he had to try catching up to the WR. It pretty much gives the WR a head start. I've only played 3 full games and I've seen this kind of consistently. I'm thinking of maybe adjusting the reaction slider but not going to jump to any conclusions yet. Going to try different teams. Game looks pretty good in my opinion. Feels great. There are some things I'm going to change from default but so far everything seems alright. I'm trying different adjustments to certain sliders to see if it feels significantly "better" than default. I'm a little "iffy" on line play, I've seen some great things and also seen some questionable things. Overall I've been pretty satisfied. We shall see what I can decide.

Typically, the pattern has seemed to be two weeks after launch for the first patch / update. They usually release it on Fridays. No 100% word on a patch yet. I heard rumors of there being one tomorrow but a rumor is all it has been so far.

Are you doing all madden this year? I thought it played well. My main issue was user run game needs a boost but other than that i had a lot of fun on all default all madden. Kinda disappointed that the game is basically the same in cfm. The gameplay is better but i still see the same issues year after year.

This year there doesnt seem to be as many issues as 17 so thats a good start. Its better but is it where i expect madden 18 to be at...no? Compared to mlb and nba 2k its still way behind. But at least ea took a step forward with gameplay and not a step back like 16 to 17 was. If you need help testing ill be around. I probably wont have time to develop my own set for a while.

I just got promoted to a general manager position and its taking all my time. I almost didnt buy 18 this year but look at me, i picked it up on the 9pm release lol. I mean ive had every version since 92 its hard to break the streak. I thought pushing 40 id be over video games by now lol.

Cheers to another year of madden ups and downs.
