    Layup meter - pool

Why it is removed ? it doesnt make sense.

I dont know if im releasing floaters too early or too late i cant really practice it without meter

That would help seperate average players from great.

    2k18 fixes

Bigs can cover to much ground on defense(they are too fast)

Late contest on laups matter too much.

    Random blocks doing pumpfakes.

Leaning shots for guys who have catch and shoot badge should be removed.

It's so off compared to jumpers. The timing doesn't match the layup release point in most cases. I don't mind it being there but get it right first.

      Re: Layup meter - pool

I voted to bring it back. Simply give us the option.

For those that don't know. Layup timing is already built into 2k18. If I'm not mistaken, Mike Wang said even though the layup meter is not visible, layups still requires timing. Layup including interior shots is a form of shooting so why wouldn't it make sense to have a meter.

      Options, options, options.
      (a) meter on/off for everything
      (b) meter on for outside shot / meter off for interior shot (current default)
      (c) meter on for interior shot / meter off for outside shot (just for the heck of it)

Regardless, I'll adjust either way even if they choose not to bring it back. Even with the layup meter, I never really focused on it at all in 2k17.

For 2k19 i guess but dont start this BS complaint thread tryna get 2k to start patching things and messing up the game.

You see how the smooth the game plays now? How crispy the controls are etc. Patches deteriorate all of that. Just adapt and move on

I'm only talking about adding meter nothing more leave gameplay as it is because its the best we ever had.

            Re: Layup meter - pool

I voted yes based on current config with same release timing of last year.

However I would prefer - instead of a timing based on player's jump - a timing based on ball release: if i anticipate the release I would trigger a quick shot to anticipate the defender (example: Curry scoop shots), if I hold the button I can rely on player's athleticism to lead to a circus shot (example: MJ).

Then the attributes and badges would determine timing success.

A regular release not contested has high % for all players, while very quick or late releases are tricky and are managed with high % only by skilled players.

              Re: Layup meter - pool

I hate the shot meter as a rule....layup/jumper--doesn't matter.

              1) Destroys immersion.
              2) Promotes the "chasing greens" mentality.
              3) Meters are severely hampered by lag.
              4) Allows the defense unrealistic amount of blocks because we can't release shots early--especially layups.

That said, I prefer the optionality of giving players the choice of using it or not....some of you guys really like it.

Nah keep it out of the game. The implementation was horrible last year and the timing was way off. I'm fine without it.

Actually shot meter should include that if you want to early relesea your player will release it with lower % chance but he will not be as contested so you will have a boost on that.

lol it does include that....its just that the "lower % chance" is ZERO.

Keep it out of the game until they can get the timing right.

                      Last year was a travesty.

I voted no, of course not minding an option.

I find meters distracting. I'm happy to time releases to animations. Graphics/animations are too good to be watching meters IMO.

                        I turn off EVERYTHING that's turn-offable.

I'm noticing in the prelude that it does feel as if there is a timing element to the animations similar to the one last year. It's just not exact visible. After running a few games in 2KU I'm seeing it's takes a little longer holding the stick or button to get better lay up finishes. The closer to the rim/backboard you are + the angle to the basket + ability of the finisher/defender seems to matter as well. Player play life like like no other this year. Yea I may be having trouble finishing the jelly/reverse/contact lay ups with steph but I am drilling an infinite array of step backs side step jumpers pull ups etc. all with relative ease if you actually under stand ball and how and when to take shots. Steph is deadly off the pick this year. And the triple threat game is lethal. I'm seeing so many different animations using the stick for layups. Anyways I'm rambling but I think lay ups are just fine lol.
