    Re: Franchise Analytics

For those that have mentioned it in the thread, I would be happy to share some of my spreadsheets. As I mentioned, they are continuously evolving, so one is actually "under construction" at the moment as I add some tabs for batting and pitching splits. I'm open to ideas and feedback too, because I enjoy making my spreadsheets better almost as much as I like playing all 162 in my Braves franchise. For those interested, feel free to shoot me an inbox.

Here is a sample of what I track in my spreadsheets; but there are numerous detail tabs that drive some of the dashboards you see below:

Good God, xNEx! Those are gorgeous spreadsheets but extremely intimidating. OK, SCEA, here is the model for downloadable reports. Easy to see you're not a casual user of spreadsheets and the design of them are quite aesthetically pleasing. I would love to obtain these template and dabble a bit. Very impressive and appreciate you sharing.

I appreciate the complements Hammerhunker. Interestingly enough, most of my Excel skills are self-taught from doing spreadsheets for MLB the Show and the MABL baseball team that I manage. I ended up turning my spreadsheet knowledge into a career as a financial analyst, so these spreadsheets have done much more for me than just make the game more enjoyable!

Send me a PM with your email address, and I'll send the spreadsheets your way (there are 3). The spreadsheets are all in the Braves colorways right now, but if you'd like I can change the colorways for you to the team you're using for franchise. Just let me know.

How are you guys calculating some of theses advanced stats? I keep a running spreadsheet for one of my super involved franchises and keep track of everything the game allows me to see and calculate.

Without doing some serious leg work and going through every players stats I can only calculate wOBA and and OPS+. And even so, without really knowing the weighted values of singles, doubles etc, the wOBA calculation isn't really accurate.

I just don't see how you can gather the information in order to calculate wRC+, or even come close to getting stats like DRS, all the fielding and base running stats (Gems, Good and Bad), oWAR and dWAR etc.

Am I missing a stats page in game or something?

Now this is the level of analytics that the game needs to address and allow the user higher level access as in like downloadable spreadsheets. The metrics to which you're referring are quite intricate and setting them up is a project in itself. I would like some tips and tricks on this as well.

FYI, I emailed out templates last night to everyone (I think ) who PM'd me about my templates. So, please PM me if you haven't received the templates at the email address you provided to me.

I wrote up a high-level tutorial in the body of the email that should help get you started. But feel free to PM me if you have questions, feedback, or can't get something to work correctly. Enjoy!

Geez I thought I was all over my stats keeping track of them for the last 22 years throughout Madden, MLB, NCAA Football College Hoops 2k and the NBA 2K Series. But XNobleEagleX sure takes that to the next level. Thats VERY impressive. I wish I could transfer all of my raw data to Excel or some sort, But the task is WAY TOO daunting. Oh us analytics nerds lol

This thread is now going in the direction I had originally intended! Noble is the man, these spread sheets are so impressive.

I am currently playing an ALDS with the Indians. Now, please excuse me, I have never dove this deep in franchise before like I've already said. It absolutely sux that when I look at matchups, only playoff stats are given. I want access to the year's stats too. WE NEED DOWNLOADABLE STATS!

This is a great thread, no need to feel like a turd, lol. There are plenty of us analytics nerds on here, I'm a database engineer and use Excel every single day. I always have an accompanying spreadsheet with any franchise I play. I can't wait to get my hands on the one you guys are checking out now. About to send that PM to the spreadsheet guru!

Downloadable stats would be awesome. I used to like how you could print stats from High Heat.

I have notebooks upon notebooks of stats myself and have since moved on to using Excel myself, and have many spread sheets but none as good as the ones I seen on here.

Yeah, Noble's SS are quite intimidating. I am an effective level 1 Excel user nowhere near that ability. It's so nice to have access to such a template.

I just completed a complete year in franchise for the first time ever using the Indians. Normally, I can't find a team that I can stick with without getting bored, and I can't play with my Rockies for some weird reason.

I discovered that I prefer playing in the AL more than the NL, as well.

                                Super tough decision.
