The week started for Utah with a bang, as they got a 134 to 106 victory against the Washington Wizards. Rudy Gobert had 26 points and 10 rebounds off of 12-14 shooting as he decimated the Wizards' frontcourt. Donovan Mitchell added 21 points and 9 rebounds off of the bench, shooting 7 for 16. Rodney Hood and Thabo Sefolosha both added 18 points; Sefolosha went to the line 11 times in 16 minutes, making 8 of them. Ricky Rubio had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 13 assists while shooitng 7 for 12 from the floor. Joe Johnson had 15 points and 3 rebounds in the starting lineup. The Jazz shot an astounding 62 percent from the floor.
The very next night, Utah traveled to OKC, where they fell 94 to 80 in a defensive matchup. Paul George led the Thunder with 20 points and 7 rebounds, while Russell Westbrook had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Carmelo Anthony had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Rodney Hood led the Jazz with 18 points and 4 rebounds, while Donovan Mitchell had 17 points off of the bench in 26 minutes. Rubio put up 14, 6, and 6 with 2 steals, but shot just 5 for 15.
Thursday night, the Jazz hosted the Rockets, but once again, Utah's offense faltered, as the Rockets picked up a 96 to 87 victory. James Harden had 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists, but shot just 6 for 19 from the floor. Chriss Paul had 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists, but he also shot poorly from the floor, shooting 6 for 15. Luc Mbah a Moute had 18 points, 4 steals, and 2 blocks while shooting 8 for 12. Gobert led the Jazz with 16 points, 18 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 blocks, but he shot 6 for 15 from the floor. Burks had 14 points in 15 minutes, shooting 6 for 10. Rubio had 12, 4, and 4 off of 5 for 12 shooting.
And tonight, the Jazz got out of their mini-slump by knocking off the Bucks in Milwaukee. Rubio led the way with 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists, as well as 3 steals, while shooting 11 for 19 from the floor. Donovan Mitchell received the start, and he put up 17 points, 3 boards, and 4 assists. Rudy Gobert had 12 points, 17 boards, 2 assists, and 4 blocks while shooting 6 for 7. Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped a triple-double in the loss, recording 15 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 assists, along with a steal and 3 blocks.
The Jazz continue their 6-game road trip with three games this week against the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, and Cleveland Cavaliers. However, the Jazz do get three days of rest after tonight's game with the Bucks, and so they're returning home tonight before flying back to Chicago Tuesday night.

The Nuggets waived veteran forward Richard Jefferson Saturday morning and signed former Nugget Ty Lawson. Jefferson had been struggling with the Nuggets, as his shot had left him and he looked a bit slow. Lawson played with the Nuggets for 6 years, putting up great stats on some very good Denver teams. Although he's 30 already, I wouldn't be surprised to see Lawson start immediately for a Denver squad in need of a veteran point guard to settle things down.
Trey Burke is now a Houston Rocket. The former Wolverine has played 4 seasons in the league, 3 of them with Utah and 1 with the Wizards. Though his defense has always been suspect, last season he shot career-highs in FG% (45.5%) and 3PT% (44.3%), although his scoring was down overall from his Utah days. You have to imagine Burke will get a fair shake in Houston with Eric Gordon's season ending injury. The Rockets are thin in the backcourt after the injury, and getting a guard in Burke who can play off-ball from Harden and Paul is a good pickup.
