Interesting to see you needed OT to beat Illinois in a 24-3 game, LOL. Probably a residual 6 points in OT from the Northwestern box score. Also, one more "easy" game before running the gauntlet against MSU, UM, and Nebraska. It would be very impressive to go unbeaten given how ridiculous the schedule was.

Might be headed for a rematch with OSU.

Iowa is getting the W's but there are still things to clean up. Great work, as always, Hellisan!

              2019, Week 11 Preview

The Hawkeyes wrap up a three-game road swing with a trip to West Lafayette to face
the Boilermakers. Purdue is an average team having a bad season. Most of their games
have been close, but they are hurt by a quarterback that throws a lot of interceptions
and an offense trending toward ineptitude. They're also one of the worst teams in the
nation against the run, and they are one of the worst in the nation in turnover differential.
Can they harness some of their talent and give Iowa a game?

The obvious issue here is that Iowa is dealing with injuries to the offensive line. Freshman
takle Alec Gehlhausen has been activated, his redshirt removed. This was not a huge
disappointment for Coach Clark, as Gehlhausen is (hopefully) not likely to be a future
starter, but he was better than the next man up. Backup guard Roger Nixon slides out to
right tackle, while Gehlhausen will make his first career start at left tackle. After two
weeks on the shelf due to illness, Suydam is expected to be back and available next week,
as he simply did not have the strength to be at his best in this game. Starting right tackle
Anthony Ingraham is now out for the season, and Nixon is projected to start there the
remainder of the season, barring injury.

LOL... Fixed it, thanks for the heads up. I would love a rematch with OSU, I didn't feel like I got their best shot before. We have a bit of a cushion now, with the West having a down year in the Big Ten. Northwestern is having the best season in the division, as they are coming on strong, but we hold the tiebreaker there if we lose a game. Still, it's more likely we lose one of the final three games than that we do not, and it becomes, will we lose two?

I thought Purdue was an interesting young squad, but it turns out the only correct word in that sentence was young. Way to jump out to the quick lead and not let them back in. I hear you on the boring game sort of feeling - I think we've all had games that just seem like the other team isn't playing at 100%.

Hopefully these last few games have been good tune-ups for the big showdowns looming ahead, especially while you're still missing a bunch of guys. Luckily they're all at home, but finish running this gauntlet with the current crop of guys and you've earned a shot at the big boy bowls. Best of luck!

Thank you Guru! yeah I was just like wow, this is pathetic. What they were doing was so incredibly uninspired it almost got me down, lmao. I love offense and to see that blight on the word performed in my presence was a punch to the gut! lolol. It's going to be very interesting to see what happens here in the next three weeks and beyond, I don't play ahead more than about 1 game ever, and I'm not ahead now, so I'm definitely looking forward to whenever I have some more time. Things are a little slow after the Holidays which is why I've been around more, but school starts back up this week.

                    Thanks again man.

User Note: Most who have played NCAA 14 for a length of time will understand that the left d end generally picks up more sacks than the right d end. After Jonathan Brooks got off to a 9 sacks in 6 games start, or 1.5 sacks per game... and since the other end Doug Butler is just as good on paper, I switched them for fairness. (Just realized I have not adjusted this in the previews yet... I digress.)

Brooks was held sackless in his first game at right DE against Northwestern, but overall he has simply stepped up his game another two notches since moving to right defensive end. With 3 against Illinois, and 4 against Purdue he has an astonishing 7 sacks in three games since the switch, or 2.33 per game. The senior is rated 76 OVR and playing like a 120 OVR.

Nigel Atkinson has become one of my favorite players to follow on the boards. Everyone loves the flashy guys, I love me a "steady eddy" haha. Hopefully he can keep up in the next three weeks, cuz he's gonna need to.

He has become one of my favorites. He is a good example of how the ratings don't seem to define players all that well. He's 91 SPD - purportedly - but gets tracked down by slower players a lot. And I'm not just talking angles. He does not have a good elusiveness rating but he's slippery in traffic. My favorite thing about him is when he hits the back of a blocker or other small impediment he rarely falls, or gets knocked off balance. For these reasons he's pretty easy to get consistent yards with, but he rarely busts big plays. 97 ACC, 91 speed, you'd think he'd run FASTER. lol. He kind of reminds me of a poor man's Shaun Alexander.

                          2019, Week 12 Preview

Iowa welcomes #10 Michigan State (6-3) to Kinnick Stadium for a 3:30 P.M. Kickoff. The
starting lineups have been presented without the fullback this week, because MSU has a
terrible one (48 OVR) and he likely won't see the field more than a couple of times in the
game. His inclusion would skew the numbers.

The most striking aspect of the MSU team is their receiving corps and a solid QB. HB
Timmy Kelly is out for likely the remainder of the season, certainly any games that will
matter for Michigan State other than a potential good bowl game if they can beat Iowa
and win out. Anyway: Back to that receiving corps. Three seniors, all over 90 OVR, and
different styles. They can beat you with speed or brute force. Brian Manson is the most
unique, and as a result the most interesting. This slot guy will absolutely truck you. He's
like a tight end, except faster and with very good running moves, He also blocks like a TE.

And then there's the actual tight end. Kaleb Larson is a LOAD, possibly the best tight end
in college football. A very, very good receiver, he is actually a much better blocker, with
92 RBK and 88 IBL. He would make an incredible center, but instead he will be
terrorizing the end of the line, against whomever he lines up against. If they use him
correctly, there is no way any of our linebackers can cover him one-on-one, or get through
him on a blocking OR passing play. Stud.

On defense, Coach Clark can take heart because there is a defined weakness to attack,
and that is the secondary. The first and second levels of the defense are so talented
that it may not matter. The key will be blocking up a pair of studly defensive ends while
maintaining the interior of the pocket as well, something that seems pretty unlikely. If
they can do that, the secondary will have problems keeping up with Iowa's wide receivers,
and even Nick Baltodano, a backup receiving-only TE for Iowa, may be able to get things
                          done.

That shot of Eddie Allen in the rain versus Wisconsin is award-worthy. Great stuff. You really take a lot of pride in your pictures, and it shines through with your finished products. Also, I am not exactly sure how I missed the old school Madden ambulance on the injury report graphic. That brought a smile to my face.

Northwestern really had you guys on the brink, but Nigel Atkinson was clutch. I am really liking his usage as a receiver out of the backfield. Great job bouncing back with a convincing wins against the Illini and the Boilermakers.

Good luck against Sparty next week! Don't let the pressure of being #1 get to you. Back-to-back games versus them and the Wolverines looks quite daunting. Hopefully your guys can find a way to get up for two straight weeks.

Thanks man! I take a lot of pleasure in getting the photographs, I enjoy the system in NCAA 14 and the process of taking them. Plus figuring out how to keep some of the ugly low-res textures. Even after trying all that, there are only certain photos that look really great. Look at the photo of Halligan catching the pass, I didn't realize all the fans were looking the wrong way until way later. LOL.

I'm glad you liked the Madden Wahmbulance. :-)

Atkinson is a solid all around player, he can do it all, and that's a nice guy to have around, keep trying different things until it works, and he can make nice plays in the passing game if they're not careful. Took down Sparty, and on to "The Victors."
