    OSFC 2018 Interest Thread

    I decided to create this thread to gauge interest for having another season of OSFC.

    I, unfortunately, won't be able to run the league again this year. I'm in the process of moving and won't have the time. I would still like to participate and defend my title.

    I'm hoping we can get more people in this season as we only had 9 people for our final race of 2017.

    When replying, please indicate if you have any interest in running the league or handling keeping track of points. Also, please indicate if you want to keep the points only format from last season or if you want to mimic real-life Nascar and use the playoff system.

      I’d like to be in again this year. Sorry, I fell out last year after forgetting to pick a couple weeks in a row while I was on vacation (I didn’t have as much internet access as I expected)!

          I'm down to roll again. I would prefer returning to the current point system. I just feel it keeps everyone engaged longer, as all you need to do is win to have a chance to advance. I feel like too many lose interest when they have no shot of moving on.

              I'm still interested, and I could run the points if desired

              For the points system, I think we should split the regular season into 2 halves resetting the points after each half, keeping track of playoff points separately and using those in combination with rewards points for those at the top of the points before the resets for the 10 race finale which wouldn't have resets every 3 races like real NASCAR

                  I'll come back, and I can do points again. Though I don't care to mess with playoff/bonus points. We could just go back to how Mo used to do it.

                      I was only involved in one season where Mo was doing it. Was it split into two halves? Refresh my memory...

                          Yeah, 2 13 race segments with top four in each segment advancing to the Chase + 2 wildcards based on most wins in the 1st 26 races.

                                  That system but using the playoff points that NASCAR rewards would be better IMO.

                                  Take the top X from each segment, put their best segment into an ordered list and reward the playoff bonus points for points position that RL NASCAR offers, combine with the segment/win playoff points that each person would earn through their pick of driver each week and that's perfect for seeding the last 10 race playoff, which would ignore the playoff points at that point

                                                  I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

                                                      I'm in again! I'll help where needed too, just let me know!

                                                      I do like the 2 13-race segments with top 4 advancing to the playoffs in addition to 2 Wild Cards. Obviously if we only have 10 or 12 people doing it, we maybe cut that down to 2 or 3 in each segment and maybe 1 wild card. But I like that method.

                                                          Looks like we have 12 at the moment.

                                                          Still need someone to volunteer to run this since I won't be able to.

                                                          I'm down for splitting into two halves for points, similar to what Thrash mentioned above.
