MLB The Show Franchise companion (spreadsheets)

I've spent years lurking this and other forums, trying to find companion spreadsheets that I could use with my franchises in the Show. After never finding quite what I was looking for, I decided to bite the bullet and commit to making my own sheets. 300+ hours of research and tinkering later, and I've finally made the franchise spreadsheet that I've always wanted.

    Features:
    • Accurate Wins Above Replacement models (for pitching, defense, offense, and baserunning)
    • Complete, 30-team Playoff Odds
    • Actual Win Probability (depending on the inning and score) and Implied Win -
    • Probability (depending on your offensive, pitching, and defensive statistics up to that point)
    • Automatic algorithm to determine performance awards for users (MVP, Cy Young, Gold Glove, etc.)
    • Exit Velocity tracker (calculating Hard hit ball%, Soft hit ball %, and expected wOBA)
    • Automatic Run Differential and Win Differential tracking (line charts)
    • Automatic Streak and "Last 10" calculators
    • Game Crown (Player of the Game) algorithm; Determines which user had the best game (when multiple users play same game)
    • Full 162 game projections. Byproduct of current play (expected win% dependent on your WAR), current RS/RA ratio (Pythagorean win%), and current record
    • Fully comprehensive WAR and metrics for individual players, including positional adjustments
    • Miscellaneous metrics: Strength of Schedule, Runs Created, "Clutch"-ness, wRC+, Defensive Runs Saved (DRS), Win Shares
    • Works in both Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
    • I'm making these spreadsheets available under a Pay What You Want model. Send as little as $0 to my PayPal ([email protected]) and leave a note that includes your email. I'll reply to you with the spreadsheets attached within 12 hours. If you're feeling more generous, I would be most grateful!

    Here's to a great season!

A lot of great advanced analytics tracked in here. I know for certain that I'll be incorporating at LEAST your oWAR and pWAR formulas into my franchise tracking spreadsheets. Well done

Question for those who track these elaborate spreadsheets.

How do you input the data into each? Do you take time after every game and input the box score?

This looks awesome. I'm also interested in the amount of work to keep inputting into this. I would love to use something like this but scared I won't have the time/patience to keep it up.

I can't speak for japowery since I use my own spreadsheets. But, I enter the box scores in after every game, and then my spreadsheet summary tabs (pitching/hitting stats, pitching/hitting splits, and hitting streaks) update off of those detailed box scores automatically. The only thing I don't update every game is league standings, which I do "weekly" after all Sunday games are complete. Once you have a process down, it actually doesn't take long to input all the data from the game. It takes me no more than 10 minutes to put in the game results after each game, and others that use my spreadsheets have said that it generally takes them about that long as well.

This sounds awesome i have to check it out. I use my own spreadsheets which I absolutely love. Mine are not currently focused sabermetrics like yours, but was wanting to get there. Maybe now I won't have to!

My spreadsheets calculate all types of hitting, pitching, fielding percentages: BaBip; hit types (ground ball, line drive, fly ball percentages); soft, medium, hard hits etc; lots of "per 9" and "per game" stats; errors by position throwing vs fielding errors; as well as keeps almost every stat i can think of (not including lefty righty splits) and a lot more. Really helps dialing in sliders. Been wanting to add the stats yours offers. Can't wait to use it!

I keep score for my games myself because I am much better at scoring plays correctly than the game is. Then I copy/paste into my spreadsheet.

Errors this year are especially weird. I've seen clear errors scored as hits this year and sometimes SH don't get listed for pitchers.

Anyway, I admire all you guys who make spreadsheets. I'm still using Nomo's stat tracking as a base and added more batted ball profile stats and some of the fangraphs stats like SwStr, O- and Z-Contact, etc.

I'll be grabbing these spreadsheets as well!

Yours doesn't have an export option? Guess I got the DELUXE version. Lol, ok, ok, I meant I originally kept score on my own because the game keeps score very poorly. I later created spreadsheets and copy/pasted into them. I've many times wished it had an export option! I have binders full of printed out football and baseball games and stats from when I was a kid. What a sports nerd I 'used' to be.....heh. Good times.
